Beautiful pub in the middle of the countryside, next to a river. We sat outside and had lunch, the menu was full of delicious sounding food. We had light lunches but there were also doorstop sandwiches and main meals too. Plenty for vegetarians, friendly and helpful crew behind the bar. Would definitely return!
Had the most wonderful meal this afternoon with my partner. The location is stunning in every way and the pub has an amazing ambience. The food was to die for. Literally can’t recommend it enough. Super friendly staff. You will not be disappointed.
The food here is immense, combination of good British and a selection of worldly dishes. I had the gochujang popcorn cauliflower which was yum to start, steak & chips for main and the trio of puds sticky toffee pudding, brownie and crumble which was delicious. Can't wait to come back again.
Popped in on the off-chance there would be a table late lunch time. Made to feel very welcome, seated menus perused pork, potatoes and cabbage or me, husband had fish and chips. Pork was very salty, but the jue was very tasty. Only one could squeeze in dessert. Sticky toffee pudding and a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream, not overly sweet, just right. Nice atmosphere, very busy but service was very polite and quick. Thank you for a very pleasant visit.
After a great meal here last year we returned again. We had black pudding and pork bao buns to start which were great. The mains looked very good but they are not balanced enough. The pork belly is rich and a little salty and so it needed some more sweetness or acidity, the lamb was not as we had expected. It was described as lamb shoulder but what we had was minced lamb which had been compressed in a chef's ring and roasted, so the texture was not great and the dish with creamed celeriac puree was very heavy and lacked acidity. It would have been better to road the shoulder of lamb whole, pull it and then stir-fry strips of lamb shoulder when ordered which would improve the texture. Great potential for the mains but work is needed to make it more balanced. We also came away with a bottle of their reduced balsamic glaze and bread flour which we loved.
Very nice pub. We didn't have a reservation and arrived at busy lunch time but they were still able to squeeze us in. We had a crispy chicken burger. It was very tasty especially the chicken chicken coating could have been a bit less crispy. They also gave us their freshly baked bread with olive oil before the main meal whilst we waited. Worth visiting if you are passing by and want something nice to eat.
Amazing food, beer and wine. Highly recommend. Dog friendly. You can sit under the covers, outside or inside. This place has a sister pub 600m away that also do stone baked pizza. Great service too. Thank you so much to all
It's not very often I give 5 stars but I have to say, credit where credits due. Fast, friendly and efficient service right from the moment we sat down. I have been known to set my stopwatch at the point where all orders were placed to see how long it takes for our order to arrive Recently, in another restaurant, we had to wait ages for our food to arrive. Not so at the Shoe. Even though they were very busy our food arrived amazingly quickly. And, in addition to that, the food quality was excellent. I must compliment the 'Shoe', I take my hat off to you. Well done.
Second update Visited again on the 19th August 2022 Again, extremely happy with our visit. The staff make you feel so welcome. This time we had food and it didn't disappoint. We have tried the food in a lot of pubs in the area and this is by far the best. Update Visited again on 13th August 2022 Again, very pleased with our visit. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Along with the food and drink they sell they also make and sell bread. If they have sold out, you can buy pre-made bread mix. Will be visiting again very soon. Lovely pub hidden off the beaten track. Drink prices were very good. Didn't eat there but the dishes that were being brought out to customers looked very good. Staff are very friendly.
Highly recommended. Beautiful location. Amazing atmosphere. Gorgeous food. Friendliest staff. And yes. I'll be back soon please
