Story

The Royal Inn is a family run pub-restaurant situated a stones throw from Portishead's port marine development.

Aside from a fine selection of ales and wines, we also offer home cooked meals and a warm & freindly atmosphere in which to enjoy them.

Our outside seating area provides an excellent spot to enjoy the sun and a refreshing drink in the summertime with a panoramic view of the Severn estuary.

Function rooms are also available for hire, which can cater for parties, buffets, wedding receptions and meetings.

The Royal Inn was built in 1830 by the corporation of Bristol in order to provide a hotel supporting the policy of the specific development of a seaside resort.

Built by and trading for the corporation of Bristol until around 40 years ago, it is thought to be the only seaside hotel built by a public authority during the nineteenth century.

Went just for lunch, amazing food quality. The vegetarian options were as well thought out as the specials. Greeted by very friendly staff who were all good at looking after all the customers. Pan fried lamb special will be remembered for a while as an excellent food choice.
We booked this just to have a midday meal after walking around Portishead quays.nWe sat to a table in the window as asked for and had a lovely view of the river Seven bridges looking north. The garden tables were in a good position as well. Parking was plentiful.nWe arrived and greeted very well, all the waiters/ waitresses were very polite and helpful, looked as though they enjoyed their job.nWe had a special of lamb which my wife fully enjoyed and I had a mixed grill. I must say all the meat were cooked perfectly. The gammon was clean, thick, tender and a good salt base. The steak was lean and moist. The chicken was well flavoured and the sausage was full of flavour a large. If you were being fussy a lamb chop was missing not on the menu but all was so good I ask the waiter to let the chef know we enjoyed our meal intensely.nThe Restaurant was furnished very well and well spaced. We will definitely come here again.nMany thanks to all the staff and Kayan Muller the general manager who both welcomed us when we arrived and left.
We visited the Royal Inn yesterday for my brother-in-law's birthday. The staff were very accommodating towards my numerous allergies eggs, nuts and Coeliac disease. A big shout-out needs to go Izzy , whose customer service went above and beyond. The food was exceptional and certainly value for money.
Currently staying for 3 nights and what an amazing hotel / restaurant! It’s in a beautiful location overlooking the Severn bridge on the river front. The hotel rooms are perfect, spotless and super comfy. Some great finishing touches with a variety of hot drinks in your room as well as chocolate and biscuits. The restaurant food is incredible at both breakfast and dinner and the staff have all been really friendly, chatty and approachable, nothing is better than great customer service!! Jess in particular has been great during our stay, very attentive and welcoming, will 100% be back in the summer to enjoy the stunning pub garden and wonderful new menu!! Thanks guys!
Went yesterday for partners birthday lunch which all of us were looking forward to. Adult mains were cool, and medium rare rump was well done, thin, and so cold the herb butter didn’t even start to melt. Didn’t mention at time because would spoil the celebratory event.nSuch shame as really looking forward to this meal and I know it is usually much better, even the reopening night when rump was 10/10 and hot!nThat said servers were great and surroundings were comfortable. Good range of alcohol free too.
