Story

Our passion for food stems from our heritage and homeland Sorrento, Italy. This small town along the costal line of the Amalfi is notoriously known for its mouth-watering dishes. After living and working in Sorrento for many years we are proud to share our experiences and infuse our dishes with southern Italian undertones.

Our philosophy is simple, we believe that food only tastes great when it is locally sourced, fresh, delivered daily and made by people who know how to cook. We would expect nothing less if we went to a restaurant to eat. That is why we practice this every day at La Marina as we want our customers to relish every bite.

Exceptional Italian restaurant in a very picturesque location. Stopped for lunch nd choose the 2 course menu for 14.50, saying that is exceptional value for money is the understatement of the decade. Food is tasty, fresh, cooked to perfection and of very high quality. The place is spotless and welcoming right on the edge of the marina. The aubergine parmigiana is the best this side of London I have tasted. If you are in the area and look for a true and authentic Italian food experience look no further. 5 stars.

Excellent and authentic Italian cuisine. The food at La Marina is very good, truly Italian cooked and served by Italians, what more could you want for a proper mediterranean inspired menu. The restaurant is next to the lock so there is always something going on outside if there is a lull in the conversation. I thoroughly recommend it.

Every time I go to La Marina I'm never disappointed. This time we went for lunch, we had two courses for £14.50 and the food was amazing. One of the best lasagnes I've had. The service is always warm and welcoming and nothing is too much for them. Definitely the best food in Portishead and great value for money.

La Marina is a little hard to find the first time you visit as the roads on both sides of the Marina are very similar, and Google Maps gives slightly odd directions. But once there the restaurant area is bright with good views over the old harbour entrance, though if you want a clear view north toward the new Severn Bridge and Avonmouth across the “bay” it’s best to book either of the two tables at the far end of the restaurant. The view to Avonmouth is not that drab as there is plenty of water between you and the port with its gigantic red cranes etc. Don’t forget though the tide may be out! As far as the food is concerned I would say it’s some of the best Italian food we’ve tasted in Bristol, with quite a wide range of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes. Whether it’s truly authentic or not is hard to say as I’ve not visited non tourist areas of Italy. My wife and I enjoyed our 2 course lunch immensely and will be returning.

Was there for 3 course Sunday lunch as a group of 15. Service was excellent, food was delicious and extremely large portions. Everyone thought the same. They even remembered everyone's order, even though people moved seats. Would highly recommend.
