Love this friendly pub. Lovely to visit after a long walk and then have a fab roast dinner. Garden menu and restaurant menu to suit. Play park for the kids on a summers day and dog friendly. Lovely surroundings to enjoy a pint or a cocktail. Neil the owner is very friendly and will do his best to accommodate. Looking forward to trying the new picnic board ploughman’s!
Beautiful pub.Gorgeous settings. Staff lovely and friendly. Food as it should be pub quality. Not 5 star Michelin star what some folk who feel let down expect I should advise go to that restaurant. This is a pub ..in a gorgeous setting So go and enjoy a meal with family friends and enjoy the company of loved ones. We are lucky to have a fantastic establishment like this.
Had a great experience here the other night. It was a little quiet, but didn't mind that in the slightest - it was starting to get busy just as we left. Food was very good indeed. I've never had Roasted Watermelon before, but I think I'm a convert. Couple that with the goats cheese, salad and amazing dressing it was a winner for me. The husband had the battered calamari which was a little chewy, but he managed to wolf it all down! The main course, for both, was the haddock and chips. I can honestly say the chips were amazing. Good quality potatoes cooked to perfection. The haddock was huge! Can't deny that I didn't finish it... Ran out of room! Overall, had a fantastic meal. Never been before, but will definitely be going back soon.
Went for dinner to celebrate my birthday with my Partner, the Rising sun was absolutely lovely! Menu choice had good variety, food was heavenly, staff were very warm and welcoming. We live about 2 hours away and would happily travel back! 10/10 recommended
A beautiful pub to visit on a scorching hot, sunny afternoon for lunch and drinks. The views overlooking the countryside were phenomenal and it was very quiet. We had actually tried to go to The Barge at Sells Green, but they were turning people away due to being quite busy and I'm glad they did. The peaceful atmosphere here, out in the garden, was much preferred and the garden menu was spot on. This'll be a first choice now I've been taken there!
Location is gorgeous and staff is really friendly. We had turkey roast which was delicious but I wasn't keen on the roast potatoes. I think they were reheated. Dessert option is not great and it really didn't worth the money for what it was.
Was treated to a family meal for my birthday - an absolutely amazing place to visit. Outstanding food with very generous portions, customer service and fantastic views. Am definitely going back again hopefully soon
I came to have a Sunday meal with my partner, the place was very beautiful and had gorgeous views but unfortunately the food and staff did not meet the standards. Service was quick but the one waiter, which was an older man, had a terrible attitude. As someone who works in the hospitality business I always greet everyone with a smile but this man was blunt and rather rude, never seen him smile once. Food came quick but our Yorkshire puddings were burnt, roast potatoes were bland and the veg was watery. I was recommended this place and heard so many great things but I was highly disappointed. Service needs to be thoroughly worked on and so does the quality of food.
Service was friendly, swift and welcoming. Food was a let down and did not taste like fresh cooked food. Had the Turkey breast dish which was below average in terms of taste. Roast potatoes tasted old and reheated. Carrots were not edible as the texture was soggy and very unpleasant. Parsnips were OK and one of the turkey breast rolls had a chunky chewy bit in them. Good place for a drink and perhaps some fries but will not waste my money again there on a half-not-hearted prepared dish. Would have done better having a microwaved dinner at home.
Went for Sunday lunch. Fantastic food, fabulous service and really reasonable price. Lovely views from our table as well. Highly recommended.
