We booked onto the Wreath Making Activity hosted at The Restoration Cafe and I have to say, this was the best one I have been to! They were great hosts, very generous and we had so much fun. Will definitely be back next year and recommend to everyone!!
Whilst I love the bikers who frequent the area at weekends, it was their absence that meant there was room for us to actually squeeze inside here as it's usually packed! Wonderful little cafe set up and staffed by volunteers to promote a wonderful cause. Lovely menu, lovely people, and a fabulous friendly atmosphere. So long as we can get in, we will definitely be back. Thank you Restoration Cafe
Warm, welcoming community cafe in the historic Kursaal/spa pavilion. Any profits from the catering go towards restoring the riverside Edwardian landmark as a multi-use venue for the enjoyment of visitors as well as locals. Good choice of baked goods and cakes, soup and hot snacks. Proper coffee, good tea... and they're even licensed! Friendly, helpful staff. Dog and child friendly. Budget-friendly prices, too.
Brilliant place. Lovely food and well priced. They were very busy but service was good and friendly. I would love to go back.Food: 5/5
We turned up, to be frank, lost, trying to get to a friend's birthday party at Pikehall. We couldn't get 4G for the mobile satnav. The lady behind the counter couldn't have been more helpful, giving us great directions whilst serving us tea. It turned out that two other guests were in the cafe too and we made it to the party in good time. Thank you for your help, hope you managed to fix the coffee machine. Your cakes looked wonderful
We called in on Saturday afternoon as a group of 4 plus a dog! Who was welcomed and fed doggie treats by a kind staff member, we had lovely coffees and very happy as they offer Oat milk. The cake was sublime 3 of us had blackberry bakewell homemade . The icing on the Cake was the Staff, warm, very friendly and chatty both gents working behind the counter were a real credit and asset, this is exactly what many business's lack great staff! Well done gents keep up the good work and fun and smiles you made our day
Great cafe run by local people raising funds to restore the mining museum ..selling local produce all kinds of preserves etc and local real ales ..very atmospheric . You can sit outside as well and it's right next to Matlock mining museum which is another great place to visit. Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options available good choice and what's more your not charged extra for the alternative milk. Which I feel is a plus as so many places do charge. Kid-friendliness: Just plenty of room in the cafe especially great for sitting outside in the summer.
I love this cafe, the staff are very welcoming, the cakes are absolutely lovely, best around . You can't fault the Restoration Cafe at all, and it's dog friendly. What more could you ask for.Food: 5/5
Was actually going to Charles for bfast but as we got there it was closed so wandered bk to the car feeling let down as was really looking forward to a big bfast then saw this place. Feeling cold and hungry we decided to pop in and just see what it was like. First thing on menu big bfast brilliant so two ordered with scrambled eggs and no tomatoes. Drinks came out quickly then the toast came out followed by our bfast but it had fried eggs I quickly explained we had ordered scrambled on both and it was quickly whisked away with no questions asked. Afew minutes later the bfast returned with a very apologetic waitress scrambled egg on it and an extra piece off bacon for the inconvenience caused. Well what can I say this bfast was cooked to perfection one of the best I've had. I can be quite funny with my scrambled egg and don't like it soggy and wet and this was none of that it was the best scrambled egg I've had while out and about. Clean plates left and a massive thank you to the staff and a thumbs up to the chef with a tip left and honestly will definitely be bk. So if anyone is after a fresh cooked bfast this is definitely one to visit.
First time visiting this cafe and was pleasantly surprised. Hot drinks competivly priced, cakes and fancies on par with most cafes etc. but absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and place was clean and warm. Parking: Can be difficult at certain times of day and especially weekends
