Went for a sandwich and drink for lunch. Sandwich menu limited so ordered prawn with chips & salad and a sausage and onion with chips & salad. Pub was busy and one young man who tried his best to keep everybody happy. Slow service. Told prawns had not come in so ordered simple cheese & tomato. When sandwiches eventually came they were huge doorsteps and very poor. Cheese and T very dry. Sausage and onion soggy and sausage not well cooked.Chips cold. £25+ for two sandwiches which were nearly £8 each and three drinks was too high. Poor quality, very stressed service - it is a good advert for the other pub in the village.

Went to Chenies twice over the Easter weekend. On Saturday the pub was closed all day. On Sunday they only had one draught ale, served by surly staff, which was well past it's best. Not a great start for a pub under newish ownership!

Sadly now closed - awaiting a buyer. Free House which was a great hostelry under the previous publicans over many years.

It is okay. The food wasn't great and it doesn't worth what you pay for it. However the service was good.

Looks intriguing from the outside - particularly the phrase "Autarkic Free House", but I found the interior lacked character and just looked a bit too modern for my tastes. Food was decent enough, the beer I had was perhaps not at its best, maybe I caught them on an off day.
