Recently refurbished, we went for lunch as it is conveniently located for all 3 of us and just off the M25. Met at the door and shown to our table, the decor is beautiful and tastefully done and in fact we all commentated on how lovely it looked. Extensive menu with an extra specials menu also available. Three of us all chose different starters and mains and couldn't fault the food, it was filling and delicious. The fish dishes were especially tasty. The staff were friendly, attentive and we weren't rushed at all. The pricing of dishes is about average for any gastro pub or restaurant and happy to pay that for good food & ambience. All in all, we were more than happy with our choice and would recommend to anyone nearby or passing.

Excellent food and service. The vegan menu is amazing with so many options available. Staff are so helpful and kind. Love coming here!

We called in a few weeks ago after its recent refurbishment. The place looks a lot brighter and there's some new furniture. However whilst there used to be two indoor areas set aside for those wanting a drink, that's now been reduced to one, and given that they've put extra seating in that area it all feels a bit cramped.

Very poor service, waited at the bar for 10 minutes while being ignored by staff. Managed to order food but they brought the wrong order. Ended up walking out, what a shame.

Having lived very close to The Gate for over a decade I can say that, on the whole, my experience has been a good one. It does very much depend on the staff, so at the moment (2018) it’s on a high! Good food, nice ambience, not too pricey!
