Really enjoyed our evening here. It was a busy Saturday night so we were grateful to get a table. I used to dine here frequently many years ago but this was my first recent visit and I was pleased to see that the pub has retained its traditional, cosy charm. We didn’t want starters so just went for a couple of nibbles to start with- the olives were good but the crackling was absolutely fantastic! Such a naughty treat but it was well seasoned and a completely crunchy delight. We both ordered the 10oz rump steaks medium rare for our main course which we were pleased to see came with peppercorn sauce at no extra charge unlike a lot of other establishments. Mine was a little blue in the middle so our server had the kitchen give it another little blast on the grill and when it came back, it was perfect. The only thing that I would say is that it would have been nice to have had something green on the plate a few watercress leaves or a grilled tomato perhaps but other than that, it was delicious and the chips were particularly good- they were nice and hot, crispy on the outside and wonderfully fluffy inside. But the best part of our meal was definitely the Black Forest sundae… utterly luxurious with lashings of whipped cream, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, cherry compote, chunks of brownie and the most fabulous chocolate sauce to finish it off! This dessert is a must try, in my opinion. Service was friendly and we’d definitely come back again so thank you to all of the team for a lovely evening.
This is place is seriously good. Its got it all. The food is amazing. And the general atmosphere and layout of the building is so comfortable. A must visit! The sausages & mash / Sunday roasts are top notch. If nice weather sitting outside is great too
Excellent Burns Night celebration with live piper. Superb menu with delicious food. Lovely warm county pub with log fire. Great atmosphere and very welcoming staff. Local beers from Tillingbourne brewery. Saving up for another visit.
First time visiting and I would 100% come back here. Huge seat setting available inside & outside numerous heaters which is always a plus!. We ordered food from the main menu - fish & chips, roast chicken & beef burger. The portions are huge!! Very good value for money. No complaints with the food at all - probably the best pub food i have ever had! We went during the day and it was heaving but it was amazingly not noisy & didnt feel crowded at all. Staff were so friendly despite it being busy & the food came very quickly. If you are driving - there are 2 large parking lots with generous space just be careful when leaving as the joining road can get fairly tight.
For sure Best chips I’ve ever eaten, outside garden dining was beautiful, lovely atmosphere and staff, delicious sticky toffee pudding!! Lovely mushroom on toast. Oh my god it was lush here. 10/10
We have been to Onslow Arms a couple of times. The food is always good so is the service. It does get crowded at times and you may have to wait to be served. The portions are good and the prices are reasonable for the food quality. The environment is pleasant both indoors and outdoors. It is a large place but has a cozy feeling about it. Well worth a visit.
Located in a beautiful village near Guilford, this pub impresses on every level possible. Starting with more than ample parking, to you being greeted by friendly, courteous, welcoming staff and ends with generously proportioned, delicious food with a wide range of drinks and sides. And all of this at acceptably reasonable prices. A must visit pub if you are in and around Guildford and one I will definitely come back to soon.
It wasn't our first time for dinner and as always we weren't disappointed. Great food, good choices, great wine. Excellent service and atmosphere. This time we had our dinner inside but the meal in the garden is just soooo relaxing. Beautiful place.
Great garden for a summer day. Staff are friendly and attentive, although drinks service is slow. That being the case, it seems to be a back up at the bar rather than the overall service as food service was timely. Menu had a good selection of classic pub and British dishes. Good selection of wine. Would recommend
Met here with family when visiting the area. Parking available. Busy pub. Extensive Menu Good quality. Would visit again
