We had a very enjoyable Christmas meal at The Queen's Head today. There was a wedding reception going on at the same time, but they still managed to provide an excellent service for our group. I really enjoyed the cheese souffle starter, and the roast turkey was very tasty too. The plum and sherry trifle to finish had a lovely festive flavour, which was a pleasant surprise. Recommended.
This pub truly oozes Christmas charm. We’ve been coming to this pub for the festive lunch since 2017. Incredible memories, but this year food and service were top notch. Special shout outs to Ed, Jonathan and Charlie who was our server for our meal. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you for another wonderful memory!
Another great evening. Full marks to Manny and Tom for making last night's birthday meal such an enjoyable event, for going the extra mile with their thoughtful touches and for those in the kitchen for a great meal which was enjoyed by adults and children alike. We have lived in the area for nine years and keep coming back to the Queens Head, as the whole experience has yet to be beaten.
Generous and perfectly executed roast with all the trimmings, served up with a very warm welcome from Ed and the team. Hospitality at its best! We visit the Queen’s Head regularly, are very impressed with recent improvements to the menu and with the friendly professional service we have received from both long-standing and newer staff members. A happy local…!
Disappointing. Having telephoned and made a reserved booking the festive lunch was not really what we imagined. A large "chunk" of turkey? was served on the plate along with trimmings - a cold and b not exactly turkey as you would expect. Food was taken away and a new serving returned that was hot but still a large "chunk" of meat. In fairness the festive menu was deducted from our bill without any asking from us so on that count thank you Queens Head. We are returning customers so hope that the new regime will be able to restore the QH to its normal quality food.
We’ve been going here for many years and consider ourselves loyal customers of a place with welcoming staff. tonight’s meal was frankly unpleasant. It’s seems like the kitchens offer has changed and it’s just preprepared plate food and the staff not the same. Not worthy of the place and I doubt I’ll eat here again.
Visited last night for a quick dinner. Pub was fairly quiet but even still, the service and food were no way as good as previously experienced. The waitress was extremely slow, we had to go to the bar to order more drinks and ask for the bill they were clustered round the bar chatting. The food was average, at best. The two sausage and mash were small and more like a tea you’d cook at home and the fish and chips, while tasting ok, just looked a bit rubbish. Nice pub but wouldnt go back. There are much better locally where the food and service beat this place hands down.
Enjoyed a great evening at The Queens Head, escaping the wind and rain for a table in front of the log burner. Both orders from the specials board were excellent, one being the lamb loin and the other swordfish. We booked our table online and paid the deposit, and this was already accounted for in the final bill. Great service and pleasant atmosphere, would visit again.
We had a lovely Sunday roast at this gem of a pub. My partner has the beef and I really enjoyed my vegetarian option. The sides were splendid and I loved that the veg was served separately so we could pick and choose our faves. Friendly staff in a cosy, calm setting. Can't wait to come back again soon.
Popped in for pie and a pint and food was excellent. Only reason it wasn't 5 stars was because of the price of the 2 dishes plus 2 pints of Guinness came to approx £60. Just a little too steep.
