We have stayed at a few hotels in Cockermouth, but somehow always overlooked The Manor House.nnThe hotel has its own car park at the front of the building and a lovely beer garden.nnWe arrived a little early, but this was not a problem. A friendly greeting from the owner and we were given room keys. The building is very well maintained and the rooms had everything you need for an overnight stay.nnThe restaurant no longer provides evening meals, but there are many other places to eat nearby. There is a well stocked bar, which is very reasonably priced. We didnt try the cocktails on this visit, but will next time!nnBreakfast was beautiful. Fruit, cereal, good quality full cooked breakfast etc, with constant tea & coffee refils.nnThe owners couldnt do enough to ensure we had a great visit.nnI fully understand why the hotel is usually full booked!nnThank you, we will be returning soon!
The hotel was in perfect location to get to wherever you needed.nFood was outstanding for breakfast.nThe bar served delicious cocktails.nAtmosphere was lovely and welcoming. It was truly like staying in a home from home.nStaff were outstanding, providing lots of information and being friendly throughout.nRoom was spotless and was made everyday which is a luxury nowadays.nCouldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay.
I heartily recommend this hotel run by lovely people including the excellent chef. Best breakfasts, what do they do to the fruit in the salad to make it so fresh? I don’t know but it includes the nicest tasting pineapple I’ve had in the U.K., let alone west Cumbria. Anyway, I was staying alone for a couple of days and the service was marvellous, the location so convenient and great and easy parking. The room was good too - it was too warm until I worked out how to open the skylight, but the instructions were on the back of the door, so that was on me. The only drawback some may find is the stairs and lack of lift. No problem for me whatsoever but worth considering. Would absolutely stay again.
We stayed a Friday and Saturday night here so that we could do some Wainwright bagging in the North West part of the Lakes. The hotel is in the centre of Cockermouth near to all the pubs and shops. There’s an Aldi just a 2 minute walk away. It’s a really good location.nThe staff are really friendly and attentive and welcoming. The building is lovely with high ceilings and a nice warm feel to it. The room is spacious and well equipped. They are slightly dated but they are clean and very pleasant to stay in. The car park to the front makes it easy access to load/unload your car.nThe breakfast is superb, one of the best I have had recently when staying in similar hotels.nVery much recommended and I will look to come back soon for another nice weekend away. Great value.
We - an adult family stayed here to celebrate the New Year.nWhat a remarkable stay.nIn the centre of Cockermouth we had everything and more than we needed in walking distance.nSome nice walks as well.nThe Hotel was faultless and we were made very welcome.nAs for the breakfast best we had ever had and kept us going all day.nStaff couldn't do enough for us so that our stay was enjoyable and we will remember it.nFirst time at the Manor House but will definitely not be the last.nThank you to everyone at the Manor House.nRhona Mackintosh
