Story

Michelin-starred restaurant The Kitchin opened in 2006 by husband and wife team Tom & Michaela Kitchin on Edinburgh’s Leith waterfront.

Mission

The Kitchin’s philosophy ‘From Nature to Plate’, is a true reflection of Tom’s passion for the finest, freshest Scottish seasonal produce and the cooking at the restaurant reflects Tom’s training under some of the world’s best chefs blended with his own Scottish heritage.

Had a beautiful set lunch here for my partners birthday. Service is incredibly attentive and comprehensive, didn't find ourselves wanting for anything for the entire meal. Everything was explained with brilliant detail so you know exactly what tasty treat you're about to sample! My attached picture was of a beautiful squid risotto, the details of which I've completely forgotten.

Had a lovely coffee and hot chocolate out by the bar after, great to sit and digest with the cold winter sun. Enjoyed a couple of drinks each, the set menu and the the hot drinks with a 10% tip for ~£120 if my memory is correct. (edit: felt I should clarify this was for two people!) 

Very deserving of the accolades they've received/hold.

This was our third visit here. Always a joy. Relaxed atmosphere and always well taken care of! Food amazing as you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. Set lunch is very reasonable. I would recommend getting the matching wines too.

Truly outstanding. The service was 1st class and really well rehearsed and delivered. Hats off to the team who work there and make the experience so special. As for the food I can’t imagine anything better. Every course on the tasting menu was incredible, you can really see what it takes to get a Michelin star.

Excellent service and attention and excellent food. The only criticism is that the portions were a bit on the small size - only three small pieces of roe deer. The main cost of the meal is wages and we were well served by the staff - therefore why skimp on the food? Having said that I have never bought roe deer and it might be more expensive than I have imagined. Still more than happy to go back and recommend it to others and if there were "half stars" I would have rated it 4.5 stars.

I've been so looking forward to lunch at my name's sake restaurant and it didn't disappoint.  The friendly but professional service attended to every detail and the food was sublime.  I can't praise it highly enough.
