The King John Inn is situated in the idyllic village of Tollard Royal on the Wiltshire/Dorset border.

Story

Named after one of King John's hunting lodges, this Victorian building was opened in 1859. Rescued from near dereliction in 2008 the pub has been comprehensively refurbished. The modern country style interior features quarry tile flooring and open fire places.

This New year’s eve the food was less than expected and rooms were so hot one could not sleep, nowhere to turn the radiators off, windows were at car parking height therefore could not open due to potential theft, bath room was in my opinion dangerous with a head high radiator extremely hot next to ones face when you removed yourself from the WC, you had to stand in the shower bay on a wet floor with an electric razor plugged in, in front of the hand basin, nice way to Go!! King John needs to get its act together as is it will rarely benefit from return business. Pricing needs a good overhaul. Overall: - Disappointed

I drove nearly 40 miles return (it is off the beaten track which only adds to its charm) to the King John Inn to try the food there and I was not disappointed. We were not disappointed. It was absolutely yummy and the staff helped make it an enjoyable dining experience. Do not be mistaken - this isn't a pub. Its a (very good) restaurant with rooms. We will definitely return and hopefully spend a night or two there as well.

A beautiful pub, but taking the business ethics of London’s eateries to the extreme. The food is decent, but over priced.
