This place has the best sausages and mash you could get anywhere! We visited here two weekends on the trot after stumbling upon it on our walk through the city. They have a range of different sausages to try as well as various flavours of mash. Absolutely delicious. The place is quite small and cozy but worth the squeeze if you can find a space! Bar staff are very friendly and efficient. Food came out fast and hot, perfect!

Great staff; very friendly, knowledge, quick. Building is swamped in history, the food is tasty, the beers and spirits are varied and of good quality.

Great old fashioned bar in a central position. My friend loved the Gin menu!

The pub looked good and was very interesting architecturally inside. The menu looked good and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately we were let down by the food. We ordered two different sausage and mash meals. They sounded good. It was like eating rubber. Tough skin and not great flavour. Had eaten Morrisons own sausages a few days earlier and were much better. My wife eat a small piece of sausage, spat it out and returned it to the kitchen. I ate my mash and a small piece of sausage. To us they looked undercooked and she requested 50% back as she hadn't eaten hers and didn't want anything else from the menu, which was offered. At first we thought the waiter had agreed with this, but when we went to get my card refunded he stated that the kitchen had said they were cooked to temperature, which is a basic requirement in law nothing more, and at first offered 10% then 20%. Not good enough. I suspect they do not rely on repeat business. We will not be back. Plenty of other places to eat in Rose Street.
