Hooray for a warm welcome and amazing lunch after a good walk. We have been quite a few times to this pub, which has always been charming but it's got better and better. We sat outside this time under a lovely vine. The service and the food were exceptional and would put many 'exclusive' restaurants that charge double the price to shame.
Such a wonderful pub. The food is stunning, the garden is really lovely and the staff are very welcoming. We had to wait a little while today for our mains to arrive after the children’s food arrived not a big problem as everything calms down once they’re munching anyway and the staff spotted it immediately without us having to say anything and were so kind to us, swiftly offering a free drink whilst we waited. It may seem like a small gesture but it really made us feel seen and so a minor inconvenience left us feeling like a valued customer. The bonus is that we had the best pie and ice cream I’ve eaten in a very long time! We will absolutely be back and probably regularly now!
We have just had a wonderful celebration for our daughters wedding here. Chrissie and Rob were very attentive, they listened and made happen all our ideas from start to finish! We had afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast all home made and delicious! The accommodation is lovely with a beautiful garden and not forgetting the gorgeous pub dog Roman who made us feel very welcome too!
Fantastic all round. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. We were given a long table in the conservatory for a large group 20 or so, including young kids for Sunday lunch. Food, service, drinks, all round superb - the roasts were excellent. Thanks to the team for a great experience.Food: 5/5
Came for Sunday lunch. Staff were lovely and very friendly, gorgeous pub dog, but there were no vegetarian options for a roast and only 2 veggie mains that seemed to be just vegetables on a plate with a few sauces drizzled on- nothing of much substance. I went for the fish and chips which was delicious, but quite expensive. Beautiful pub itself but left feeling a bit disappointed.
We had our wedding celebration here and it was exceptional! From the stunning location/gardens, to the service, food, drink and lovely rooms to stay in. It really was perfection and nothing was too much effort for anyone who works there. We all also fell in love with the resident lab... the most loveable puppy everRooms: 5/5
Friendly pub with good food and brilliant service. They let us stay by their warm log fire long after we had finished eating as we had time to kill. The rooms look lovely too. Will go back when next in the area. Dietary restrictions: They adapted willingly to my gluten and cow dairy intolerance.. thank you!
Food generally nothing special for the price. Served with two flat pints of Harvey's beer, expecting it to be accepted. It wasn't. Stilton salad starter had the tiniest sprinkling of cheese, very dull. Wine opened elsewhere then bought to the table. Really? In point of balance, the smoked salmon starter and sea bream main were well received. Had to ask twice for a number of other things, then we were slapped with a 12 1/2 percent service charge! With that service? Provided with a wooden high chair for a one year old, which partially collapsed with child and had to be replaced. Haven't been here for seven years, it hasn't improved and we won't rush back.
my goodness..I don't think I've enjoyed a meal more in my 86 years..The ingredients, all local, amazingly fresh, cooked by a genius, and the very well-chosen wines were first-class but best of all the friendly welcome, atmosphere and service made it a superb evening. Can't wait to return.
Rob has got this place perfect, this is my favourite place to eat. Great food offerings, atmosphere and the IPA selection is great compared to how it was under previous management - wonderful garden and indoor dining area has a great ambience/atmosphere
