It is with a heavy heart I write this review. Specifically because I hate to see country pubs fail. This was one of the worst experiences I've had in a very long time. Beer tasted like the pipes had only just been cleaned and not done properly. Food was an hour and a half in the making and inedible. The one member of staff working was very pleasant but was rush off her feet serving our group of eight. I'd even booked so she knew we where coming. The location next to the castle and not far from a thriving campsite should mean the pub does really well but it was empty. Such a shame to see its potential wasted. I'm afraid to say you avoid it like the plague until its been completely redone.
Lovely old pub next to the castle. Dog friendly, welcoming staff, excellent food. The sea bass was cooked to perfection! Wish it was our local but we will definitely come back often and recommend to family and friends
Great home made quality Lasagne, massive portion with deep fried chips and side salad + pint all for £6.50, bargain! Staff are really friendly too. Don't just pass by in the car, stop in and try the Hungerford Arms!
This aint no "Gastro Pub" This is a traditional pub selling good honest pints with good honest pub food. The food is cooked and prepared by the landlord and he will normal cook for you anytime throughout the day and evening. There isn't a "chef" as such. I suggest the steak, Rib eye or T Bone with all the trimmings. They welcome children and dogs too. They have just received a very nice review from the Wiltshire Times pub spy March 2013
Proper Ham, 2 eggs, chunky chips and garden peas for £10 and worth every penny. It was served quickly too.Lovely welcoming staff. 3 real ales. Pleasant terrace garden with splendid views.
By no small margin the worst pub I have visited in the last decade. Beer tasted funny, your food may or may not arrive after and hour and a half. Grotty loos to boot. Avoid unless you're desperate.
Fantastic old fashioned country pub has been under New Management since July 2016 , very welcoming staff, Great Landlady , Amazing food well worth the price, BrillIant Sunday Roast, worth booking in advance for Sunday Roast, come along and see for yourself, children and Dogs welcome
Only just reopened recently under new management I believe. Quite basic currently, but don't let that discourage you, excellent service, roast lunch on the Sunday was delicious with decent portion. Will definitely be going back.
Friendly staff, dog friendly very good prices and quality this is a gem with character. Open fires and it’s homely. Travellers rest of epic proportions. Please don’t change
A real humdinger of a pub, the best bar none! Was here many years ago with a group of friends and had very friendly service and the food is excellent too!
