Had a really lovely meal, and kids was very entertained in the garden. Recommended.
Had a lovely drink sitting outside with family, We ordered some food from the BBQ Menu, We waited 40 minutes then went & asked how long our order would be, Told 15 minutes we are really busy! Carried on waiting then a waiter brings some food out then goes to a different table, Who arrived after us! We asked the waiter were our order was, He then went to check, Then came back to say the chef said we had had it, Went inside & asked for a refund, They said sorry but we are really busy! As for a place to go for a drink fine, just don't order food! As for the reply, We were not offered to have a refund with our meal! As I said was a lovely place for a drink!
I'd forgotten to make a reservation and it was a lovely day, so we sat outside at the Cross Keys and had a really delicious Sunday roast - I had the veggie option, perfect. Husband and friends had lamb, delicious. Speedy, polite and friendly service. Great play area for the kids. Thank you!
The pub is lovely but the food was expensive even for Bath and not great. The mushy peas with the fish and chips were inedible. They also failed to add the adults food so we had to order that again - though did get it for free. All in all, it used to be a lot better than it was today.
The Cross Keys is, like a lot of the buildings in Bath, soaked in history. Once a coaching house dating back to the 1700's - it's not 'the' very oldest establishment in the area, but can claim original stone fireplaces and a detailed history - for whome those who are interested, is detailed on a plaque by the front door. Tis many a year since I was here last and I'm not sure the Cask Marque Ale Trail was extant then, but that was then and this is now. On this visit the ale was to be tried and be found in the most noble condition. The Blindmans Icarus 4.5% abv, not noted by CM was so more-ish it needed a couple more pints to slate the palette. The pub itself, rare these days has not been converted into a surround-one-bar-gentrified conversion, but remains a classic 50's style, two bar lounge and public the Eddie Cochrane bar. This last, so named after the 50's pop star who, involved in an RTA nearby, was taken to the close by hospital but unfortunately perished. Photo's and discs in his memory adorn the wall here. It's mostly a locals pub, who are affable enough, but, as in days of yore, travellers and visitors on 'The Trail' are made welcome. Be sure to connect with Jack, who seems, during the day, to do almost everything.
Very welcoming bar staff, excellent ales on tap, tasty food, reasonable prices... Overall a great experience, I'd definitely consider returning if I was in the area again!
A lunchtime visit to a nice warm pub, first class pint, obviously a well kept celler, the food was everything you'd hope for, served up by pleasant staff. A around Great experience
Average. Wrong dish served up for both main and dessert. Food OK, 10% added to bill for service charge; not worth it for what they did. Even with heating on still chilly.
Nice warm and inviting atmosphere. Menu had plenty of choice and the food was lovely and service was excellent, highly recommended.
A great pub, lovely food & friendly & efficient service. Definitely recommend this pub.
