Absolutely fabulous service & food. Walked in on a Sunday, only Cavary & kids menu available which was fine. We enjoyed our food & staff behind the Cavery counter was so polite despite the heat & it being busy. Her name was Corrine. She made the experience 10x better as she had a good chat with us. Made us feel very welcome! We come here everynow & then. We have always been chuffed with the service & food. Staff also display a good level of teamwork!
Opened 30 mins late on Saturday afternoon. Potato wedged served were burnt. Fish was overcooked. Suspicion they were reheated from the day before. Attached a photo of the wedges that were served to us. On the right what was originally served, on the left how we'd expect it and what was provided when I complained. Probably should have mentioned the fish too but they weren't as bad as the wedges.
Lovely pub with great food and friendly staff. Generous carvery and even had my fave cocktail on the menu
Been here many times, never been disappointed. Staff are polite and friendly, very reasonable price. Sunday Carvery very good. My only down side is the carpark is quite small so can be a pain to park in when the place is busy but that's all. Food is good, I've had easily half the menu in various visits. Always enjoyed whatever I've had. Highly recommended.
I would like to praise the hard working staff at The Highwayman Pub who made sure our visit was excellent. The friendly atmosphere was comforting and the level of service was great. The staff went above and beyond at making our visit enjoyable and catered to my children's needs who have autism. They took all our needs into account such as location of seating us and away from busier areas. The food was exceptional and plentiful. I look forward to bringing my family and friends back here and would highly recommend The Highwayman to anyone. Thanks
I am very disappointed with yesterday's visit to The Highwayman Pub & Carvery in Gravely. Starting with the service at the entrance, the lady showed us with her finger where our table was. She didn't say anything "please sit down and choose what you want, and orders are at the bar..." we chose what we wanted ourselves, and no one offered if we wanted something to drink to start with... no respect for customers! You had to guess that the orders were at the bar. Next… we went to the bar there was no one behind the bar after some time the lady comes out, ‘’I ask if it is possible to place an order " reply. just a moment and this moment is already a good 15 minutes ... we wait patiently finally the lady comes and stands behind the bar, and we start to place the order… OMG, no experience at all… No main dishes, they run out okay we change the option well again no they run out, we choose another option, then we move to order something to drink San Miguel beer please…no we run out again… we must change of option again, next cocktail should be served in the Cocktail glass should not be served in the ordinary coca- cola glass... starters should be served together for everyone, so all can eat together not one of each at a time... One person eats and 6 people look unacceptable. It turns out that there is no fish and chips after 40 minutes of waiting, we were almost running out of patience. The dishes arrive, and look unrepresentative at all, slightly warm, reheated food, dry, no ingredients on the plate ...If this wouldn’t enough wrong option of the dish has been served it supposed to be an unlimited option and comes in an ordinary portion, Hunter chicken small peace of breast poured with barbecue sauce only, even without cheese ... as an apology, the lady recommends a set of salads... It's unbelievable seriously.... in the pictures cauliflower bang bang should be served with a different sauce and not peri peri sauce…!!! and a set of salads two leaves of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and onion more than nothing else needless to say ... failure I do not recommend to anyone, unfortunately, but a 100 percent disappointment…
Went just as they opened for lunch. First to be severed the freshly cooked carvery with all the veg to go on the side. We enjoyed a relaxing meal. The staff are friendly, greeting us on arrival and check on us throughout our time with them. It was clean and tidy with lovely food. It was the escape for just a couple hours that we hoped it would be. We left well feed and relaxed, ready for the rest of our day.
I was taken here for Mothers day. There was 17 of us. The gammon and Turkey were very good, the beef was abit tough, very chewy. The vegetables were all very fresh, the Yorkshire were good, the roast potatoes let you down, not good at all. I wanted lime and soda, which is a popular drink if you are driving, no lime juice. We all had a lovely time though, lovely place to go. These are only small things which shouldn't be too hard to get right.
I'm leaving a 4 star, purely as the menu today was carvery only, much to my disappointment., but in saying that, Danny, who I believe is the new manager explained he had only one chef. The carvery was very, very good, we throughly enjoyed our meal and our dessert, in a lovely, quiet and friendly atmosphere Danny was very apologetic about the limited menu, but assured me this was only a temporary issue and would soon be resolved. It won't stop me going again after the Easter holidays, and having another relaxing and enjoyable meal . Well done Danny and his small team of staff.
We turned up as a group of 15, with no advance booking and at first we were told they couldn't serve us all food with little notice and only one chef on, we all got drinks whilst looking for an alternative place to eat, after a little while Corrine a member of staff approached us and made us feel at home, explained what they could do for us. By the end of the evening we had all got the food we had wanted and all served pretty much at the same time. The staff were brilliant, and turned it around to a fantastic evening and lovely fresh food, credit where credit is due, and a very big thank you to Corrine. You will see us all again soon.
