We had a delicious sunday roast and we were stuffed afterwards as the portions were quite big. The atmosphere was a bit cold but it was pleasant enough to enjoy our meal and a few drinks afterwards.
Can not believe how much this pub has changed. Used to play pool here when it was spit and sawdust. Now quite a trendy vibrant pub, not my style of pub but should last a few years now. Good choice of craft beer
Had a few beers watching everyone eat their roast dinner so asked if I could have a take away and the staff were more than obliging and it was tasty as. Nice pub, nice staff, good food
A big difference from the last time I visited over a year ago, nice and cosy and clean pub atmosphere, staff really friendly and service excellent. The lobster was well cooked and very tasty and went well with the classic french fries. As a say a simple late lunch but will be back to try out the rest of the menu soon I’m sure.
Lovely pub, great seating area outside to enjoy the sunshine. Good selection of beers on tap. The food was amazing. Sunday lunch, brisket is a must, so soft it falls apart. Definitely coming again.

Disappointing food fir Mother’s Day. Yorkshires were cold, roast potatoes and carrots uncooked. Dessert still frozen.
First impressions: looks very run down, stained carpet, peeling walls, sticky tables Service: Poor. Drinks orders were taken and served quickly, 25 minutes later mains order still not taken. After ordering mains, nothing for over 45 minutes. When it finally arrived the quality was poor. I had the cheeseburger, which had an untoasted, soggy bun and was lukewarm, with unmelted cheese. My partner had the roast beef, which had been overcooked within an inch of its life. The gravy was flavourless and everything on the plate had lost its structural integrity, apart from the Yorkshire pudding which was rock hard and cold. When we paid ~£35 we were asked how the food was, we said we weren't bowled over and it took far too long to arrive. No further questions were asked and we left. For how quiet it was, there's absolutely no reason for the food and service to be so poor.
I stopped at the Albert Inn with 1 of my elder sons and my youngest daughter by chance on our way home today, we were all hungry, the Tiny little pub has a friendly atmosphere, the staff were friendly and welcoming, we ordered a burger and fries as they are 50% off mon-wed.. I had the plant based cheeseburger, my kids had a bacon cheeseburger, the food was amazing, mine was so good I had to check they hadn't cooked me a meat burger by mistake..lol the service was excellent as we only waited around 10 minutes for our food, the drinks were ice cold and served straight away and the prices are very affordable, The Albert Inn is a hidden little gem in Hitchin, we will be back again.. Oh and I highly recommend the waffles with ice cream, white chocolate sauce and maple syrup, if you have room after your meal, they were Banging!!! Thank you for an awesome dinner..
I just want to thank all the great staff and management at the Albert. Our MTB club arrived tired and hungry last Thursday evening and the kitchen staff went out of their way to make sure we all had something to eat. The burgers and fries were absolutely amazing. Thanks again for looking out for us.
