I visited here for breakfast and was very disappointed. On arrival we were met by a helpful member of staff who found a table. I asked for a menu and was given one with no prices on. I ordered a traditional breakfast and made a joke with the chef about ensuring I was properly fed to which he replied its not a charity in an unfriendly manner. The food arrived and felt very poor quality with a layer of grease on the eggs, bacon and dripping through the frozen bought hash browns.nFor just under £13 it felt a waste of money as I left most of it.nI was asked how the meal was and politely said it was a bit greasy for me still paying full price with out issue. The chef told me that I was wrong as it was all grilled. Clearly not true.nnSuch a disappointment
Well it is difficult to read a hotel in this part of the town. It is very small town and I think this might be a good hotel in this area. Very well stacked supermarket about 2 minutes walk at the fuel station.nThere are other restaurants very close by to this hotel.nThere is a nice bar within the hotel in the lobby area and behind the hotel there's a nice river.nMost of the staff working here was very nice and pleasant when they speak to us.nRooms were very tiny. A single room is tiny and it's hard to keep your luggage even when you enter the room.nOverall it's good for a one night stay.
Great hotel.nFamily rooms are a good size. The beds are really comfy, we had a good night's sleep. Location is perfect n the middle of town. Free parking at the back of the hotel. Good choice at breakfast. We will return
All the bad reviews are true!n'Superior' room we had is laughable, god knows what a normal room is like.nSmelled really bad of damp and musky, a room freshener would not go amiss. Dirty room, mold, cobwebs, dust, just felt uncomfortable, unclean and manky. The sink isnt in the bathroom, its in the bedroom bit with mold round the taps and frames, wood rot etc, the shower is the old mixer taps type that after setting a nice balance, it suddenly went scolding hot, no choice but to jump out as its too hot to get down to the taps! TV is a tiny outdated portable. Some plug sockets didnt work, heating didnt work on one side of the room.nThe wardrobe mirrors were manky, it actually said 'clean me' in the dust! last occupant i assume. Bed lumpy, dust thick around the headboard.. yuk.nnBreakfast.. the plates and drinking glasses were just filthy, some plates had previous food still on them!! So didnt bother and ate breakfast at a cafe.nPlus side: The view from the windows in room, River on one side, church grounds the other.nLovely location. Shame the hotel is just manky and outdated. There is a difference between oldy worldy and just cant be bothered.nWont be going back. Good to get home to shower and freshen up.
Very small room, well past it's best, small bathroom with everything far too close together, my bed was not flat with a camber from Left to Right, woke numerous times on the edge of the bed. My travelling companion said his bed was like sleeping on a Europallet.nOnce upon a time this hotel was a grand palace I am sure, but Queen Victoria was sitting on the throne at the time.
