The gym is well-equipped, clean, well automated and 24/7 open. The activities are monitored by CCTV cameras. All the essentials like padlocks, drinks and energy bars, etc. can be purchased from the vending machine. The gym is just 5 mins' walking distance away from the Manchester Piccadilly. You can have access to the multiple branches across the city with an upgrade worth a few bucks. Worth giving a shot!

I must say that I am impressed with the facilities and the quality of service here. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. The gym itself is spacious and well-equipped with a wide range of machines and equipment to suit every fitness level and interest. I particularly appreciate the clean and well-maintained facilities, making me feel comfortable and safe during my workout. What sets this gym apart is the fantastic community atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and supportive, creating a welcoming and positive environment that makes working out enjoyable and motivating. I have seen a noticeable improvement in my fitness and overall wellbeing since joining this gym, and I am excited to continue my fitness journey here. The gym that you never regret joining. Clean and neat, lots of equipment and friendly staffs. 3 month ago started exercising i met and got to know #Ibrahim Meite that he was the perfect coach for me. He is professional yet kind, patient and understanding . His encouragement has given me the confidence that i needed to start the program after short month I am very pleased with my progress, workout plans and feel assured with him. Thanks!!!
Found the staff rude and unhelpful at this Gym Group just off Portland St. They can talk down to you and laugh at you. The atmosphere is very bad and feels like a prison not a gym getting in and out. Awful way of treating customers. Would not recommend this gym at all. I have been to other gyms not the Gym Group where staff are a lot more approachable, helpful and decent. Wouldn't go back to a gym group
Good location if you need to be in that part of town. One of the worst fit outs of any of The Gym Groups I've been to though, machines are average at best and the layout is dreadful. Clearly designed by someone who's never trained a day in their lives and when the machines are scattered across multiple floors and in little hidden coves, it makes for a very frustrating workout.
If you're looking for a nice gym in the city center then my recommendation is to look elsewhere. The equipment although new is sometimes a bit awkward to use, smaller weights are missing from them and you constantly have to walk in circles and up and down the stairs to find what you need. The male changing rooms are quite dirty, there is only one small mirror in the corner, no hair dryers, and the showers were also dirty with a few broken controls still usable though. Hire again whoever was running your Deansgate venue before its closure because that was the best gym in the city center, but for this gym, even the £12.99 monthly charge is too expensive, I rather pay double for JD, so I'm canceling my membership.
I am honestly shocked at my recent 20 minutes experience at The Gym Group Manchester Portland Street due to the aggressive behavior of the instructor called Cindya and no logic behind everything else. Actually I was asked to leave the gym, as somehow I disturbed Cindya from doing her job I absolutely have no clue how while I was 10 meters far from her in the corner jumping on my jumping rope. I was shouted at, I was ran at, she called a manager. I did not even look at her. Shock!! Seems like I am not the first facing issues with the stuff there.
Excellent gym with great equipments! Place was well maintained and clean. Shower and toilet facilities were kept clean and dry. Awesome gym!
Not a bad gym… but something really bothers me is that there is no hair dryer in this gym? Seriously? How we gonna dry our hair after we finish our shower? : Overall this gym is great and not busy at all in the morning.
