I had a terrible experience with this hotel. Myself and a friend stayed here Saturday night and had booked what we thought was a single bedroom with a spare single bed. We got a double, which wasn't the worst thing ever. I happen to rather like my friend so we shared without a problem, in the end. Anyway. We had to get moved from the first room due to a leak in our bathroom ceiling that was trickling down through the light fitting! It was leaking bad, as if someone over ran a bath above. We rang reception who said they were sending someone to have a look immediately, but it took forty minutes before we eventually grew impatient and made our own way down to reception where we were given key cards for a new room. The new room was much the same as the old: in dire need of doing up and extremely basic. There was one plug socket in the whole room. It seemed clean enough, just genuinely very old. The second bathroom floor was gross. And then, there was a "guest" access staircase directly on the left from our room. I went down this way, because waiting for the two lifts took an age, and found myself in unknown territory. I was walking past clocking machines and everything, so knew I probably shouldn't have been there. Then I got caught and proper told off like a naughty little girl! But it said guest access?! I am also attaching a picture of the spelling errors that so hurt me deep inside. These were posted all over the hotel. Plus, the whole place stunk of cigarettes?! Overbearingly! And I smoke! Ha! To conclude, I think you could get more for your money. However, if you like a crack-den vibe, try Sachas.

Affordable room and very central to town. Staff were lovely. Little dated but nothing horrendous. The diner/bar staff were lovely and very helpful. Bed was a little too hard and the TV could never keep a steady signal. But for a place to rest my head after a gig is was more than enough.

Stayed here mid week. Hotel rooms dated in need of a general touch up, eg rust on handrails in bathroom, silicone and grout missing, etc, but clean and comfortable bed. Heating broken in room and it was freezing. (Snow outside). Hotel staff promised to sort out in “5 minutes” by coming to our room but over an hour later (now 2.30am) ignoring phones at reception. So I had to get dressed and go down. Not happy at all but brought an electric heater up. Breakfast was mediocre and that’s being quite complimentary, but waiters friendly and helpful.

NOT TO BE RECOMMENDED : Upon arrival we were asked if we required a smoking or non smoking room. N/S was requested. The room was not ready so we left our luggage and returned later. (Not a problem) We checked In and 10 minutes later checked out!! The room 501 was disgusting. It was clearly a smoking room and stank to high heaven. After ringing reception to say we had requested a N/S room we were told that a member of staff would come and spray air fresher and that no other room was available. It wasn't only the smell it was the state of the room. The carpets were filthy, mould on the ceiling, hole in the wall, black skirting board with electric box cover hanging off then to top it off a cockroach was crawling down the wall. Photos were taken. A full refund was made however our planned overnight stay ended in disaster and caused upset and distress as plans had to be totally changed. Do not consider booking this hotel.

Old and dated, was given a smoking room without asking and it smelled awful, no window and stuffy. Fortunately I managed to change room that had a window. Good breakfast buffet.
