Overpriced Almost all of the time there is black sludge up the stairs and around the entrance to the spa. The cleaners often mope around doing little. I once saw a cleaner kicking a rag across the floor halfheartedly when it was filthy and needed cleaning properly The gym itself is OK and the pool, but I feel the management and cleanliness leave a lot to be desired. I recently cancelled my membership after nearly 2.5 due to poor management. The tipping point was being charged 10 pounds for an inexpensive rubber wristband that you must have to enter the club. I couldn't place mine temporarily and I wasn't allowed in after three times and had to purchase a band which they wouldn't refund when I found my old one. For such an expensive membership I would expect the band to come free, or at least to have a small no. of bands provided free and then charged if you lose too many. For 30 pounds a month at an avg. gym that is quite poorly maintained in places I would expect they'd make an effort to try to keep loyal members and would refund this just out of decency. This was the final straw for me, if it wasn't for the fact it is on my doorstep (literally) I'd have left a long time ago.

I do like that gym as it isn't especially busy, neither filled with gasping and screaming steroids-strong bodybuilders. Situation obviously changes on Monday ;) Gym is well equipped, missing calf machines only I guess. I especially enjoy spacious functional zone. I think I would appreciate some under 10kg weights in weights lifting zone. I see everyday passionate PT helping its trainees. I like reception and lockers secure system. Over that there is nice spa area with small swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Maybe ladies showers would need little better cleaning during busy hours. I don't go to classes myself but I've seen that instructors and all into while training, I bet it's worth to give it a try. Only very bad thing is opening times 6-22 during a week 8-21 on weekends, but I guess it's a price to pay for reception and their help. All in all I'm happy with a change for Bannatyne ;)

I pay a lot of money for my month to month membership. This gym is twice the price of gyms in the city so you would expect a good service! The personal trainers are very rude, when the manager is not there they close the gym and switch the music off 1 hour before close to push members out of the door. You have a wrist band to get in the gym, I recently had my possessions stolen along with this wrist band, but as I am moving country I did not see a need to buy another wrist band for 3 days usage before I move. I called the girl at reception and she told me that she had to speak to the manager as to whether I could come in and use the gym ( that I pay for) without my wrist band for the final few days. She called me back and she proceeded to tell me that the sales manager Paula said no and she agreed that they would not let me in the gym without this wrist band. I have attended other gyms across the world, I can see the need for a wrist band at 24 hour gyms as it is a key into the gym. But this gym is not 24 hour, they have a girl on reception who is supposed to sign people in but she is useless and can’t be bothered to sign me in! there is no need for the band when they have permanent reception staff. I am disgusted That I am unable to enter a gym I pay £30 a month to attend. The gym is tiny and the equipment is old.....do not sign up to this gym.....you have been warned!!!!

Far better gyms for better value within close proximity. The manager Luke is rude and doesn’t interact with the members at all, he doesn’t have any idea about customer service and makes no effort at all to even show his face in the club. I’ve been a member for 8 years and the staff turnover since he has been club manager has been ridiculously high and they are all quite open that the reason that they leave is because of him. As a member it would be great to have some consistent fitness instructors teaching classes like metafit, a lot of the time classes are cancelled because they can’t keep the staff long enough and therefor can’t get cover, it would be great for the club to value the good staff who come and a lot of members feel that the problem with the club is awful management. There are gyms close by where you pay a lot less, it’s a lot cleaner, the equipment is more up to date and they make you feel valued as a member, I get better customer service at Pure gym! Try JD gym on the same street, Lifestylefitness on Deansgate, The Aquatics Centre, The Gym on Portland St and Sports Direct Fitness.

Very Disappointed by the high level of inefficiency and avarice; Friendly staff but one of the worse system, you either join on Direct debit or you pay an overprice day pass, nothing in between, can't do thing remotely or in advance, it has to be done by filling a form at the place, the gym is in a victoran building but is also stuck in a victorian mentality, it's time to move on and also invest inside the gym, lots of facilities needs massive injection of cash, you'are luck 80% of people are on DD but don't come very often, otherwise this model wold have gone bust, many other gum in Manchester offer better cheaper service.
