I am impressed by this gym. I ve been to different Puregym, this one is very spacious, clean, tidy, and quiet which is better for you to focus on/enjoy your workout. I like the different floors they have but the equipment maybe could be better organised. The space they have here allows you to be not bothered by others even if there are many people. And the variety of kits they have here gives you more opportunities if one is occupied you could try other stuff. Good location - in the heart of Manchester but recently I received an email saying they will increase the price for this one:/. If you don't upgrade you will lose access:/. Generally it is a very good place to have some amazing workout!
Decent gym, good value for what you pay, plenty of free weights and enough machines to go around. If you don't come at the very busy peak times the gym is quiet.
Compared to other gyms, its expensive, its old, its falling apart, its tiny, its water tastes like they poured bleach in it and all the machines are taken all the time. It looks like its been infested with rats. Save money and go to a gym 100x better
One of the bigger PureGym I have visited. It runs on three floors with the same "no frills" functionality. Lots of different machines to excercisevall parts of body. Gym is conveniently located on the high street and bus stops and tram stations close by. Only downside is the seats in the men's changing rooms are very close to the lockers which makes it inconvenient to open lockers if someone sitting there.
Decent kit, lots of matrix. Quite a strange layout with some of the resistance machines downstairs with the cardio and didnt know they were there until right before I left. But that's no real issue. Location is ideal and central
Not the largest of gyms, was expecting it to be larger, but other than that it had everything you would want/need. Came here as part of pure gyms multi site options as not my regular location. But changing rooms were good, and the equipment was all working. Decent safe feeling location. Would return
Great facilities but very badly run. Used to be a great atmosphere, the previous staff were very helpful, friendly and know what they were doing on advising people and supporting the gym community, etc. Recently I got my membership suspended because of working out with friends and being accused of making money out of "training" them which is not true. My friends confirmed that I was just helping them and working out together in the gym, and the staff were aware of it but still insisted that I was doing "personal training". "PureHelp" was not helpful at all, listened to their own side of story only and suspended me I have been working out on the gymin the same way but never had any issues with the members or other staff during the last 4 years there and wasn't rude to the current ones as well . Anyways there're plenty of other better gyms everyone knows that. But what I want to problematise here is that suspending a person who has been a loyal customer and a devoted participant to building the community at your gym is inherently unfair, deconstructive, and disgusting. Pure gym, please respect your memembers instead of only making money. Peace
Clean and pleasant gym. But not enough machines, or lower mid level dumbels.
Great gym, always clean and lovely staff. Margarita was my PT for 3 months and helped me to achieve what I wanted, she always put so much effort into my workouts and worked around the hours I needed!
This has been my regular gym for a while as it's fairly large, generally well-equipped and easy enough to get to. Overall it's a fine place to train and I'm happy to remain a member, but there are a few things that bother me, especially in comparison to other branches. There's almost zero natural light and it's not as stylish, clean or aesthetically pleasing as the nearby Deansgate/Spinningfields branch, which has all of this plus some nice new PureGym-branded weights and some really cool multicoloured LED lights in certain areas that give it a sleek atmosphere. The men's changing rooms at Market St have honestly been pretty gross these past few months - after the toilet seats constantly falling off, the toilet paper holders have now fallen off as well and they're often quite messy and unclean overall. Seems every time this gets fixed they just break again the next day. There are also quite a few broken lockers. It's night and day with the changing rooms compared to Spinningfields. There's also no seated leg curl or back extension machine like many other branches, yet there's space for what must be at least three more machines on the ground floor. The leg press downstairs also breaks every five minutes and is then out of commission for days, so almost may as well not be there. Some of the lighter dumbbells are also missing their front plates that show the numbers on them, so you can't actually see what they weigh. In general a lot of the equipment is just a bit tattered and worn down compared to Spinningfields and many other branches I've been to, and sometimes it feels like it could use a bit more investment. But unless you really wanna leg press downstairs, it's generally functional. As previously mentioned, despite not being much of a looker it really is a rock solid gym overall, with some advantages over Spinningfields like a hack squat machine and a lot more plates. I only bring these issues up in the hopes they'll be taken aboard as constructive feedback.
