Was in here on Friday, lunch time. It looks quite small from the outside but once inside it has lots of areas to go. It’s like a tardis.nThere was no accessible toilet but it does have toilets outside that are a single room, which would work as they are quite spacious. Although not sure a wheelchair would fit in.nIt was quite quiet when I visited which was great at the time. The staff were amazingly helpful and accommodating.nI get the impression it comes to life in the evenings and at weekends, which I would love to see.
I usually come here when the weather is good due to the brilliant pub garden definitely the highlight of the place. Tends to be busy with a good atmosphere on weekends, especially if sports are on.nnWhen it comes to a quiet indoor sit-down, however, I prefer the Three Horseshoes just up the road due to the number of fruit flies in The Griffin. I would change this review and probably go more often if they were able to get a handle on the situation, as the flies are a nuisance even in the Winter months.nnThe food is fine, the service is better. Staff are great and generally very friendly. The loos are pretty much what you’d expect - I’ve seen far worse.nnGuinness is decent and poured well - you won’t find anything substantially better without trekking to Waterloo/London Bridge area. That being said, you’ll find little difference in the price of a pint between here and a pub in central, though that goes for most of the pubs in Barnet.nnI don’t like to badmouth the place as it’s been my local for years, but yeah, the flies are an issue.
Here in Whetstone for a few nights and I was glad to stumble on this traditional pub Variety of beers, a bit disappointed in the lack of malts but, hey….that’s me. Very friendly, mixed clientele - a proper local pub. Food was great too.
Me and my work colleagues went for a small going away party on a Friday evening. We reserved our seats and had specifically asked for a place with heating but on arrival did not have it. Most staff here are probably new and I don't blame them, but it's the managers responsibility to ensure that they are given proper training in what is and isn't available. There is no remote ordering even though they have a lot of staff and we were forced to go to the singular counter every time to order anything. We picked up menus and ordered our food and drinks only to find that the bartender said the menu displayed was outdated. To our dismay they had no cocktails and we were very unhappy. Any food ordered took them more than 30mins to make. In addition the DJ wasn't very good, he could have played much better tracks with better involvement of the crowd. This place has a nice atmosphere but poor customer service. I doubt I will be going here again.
Think twice before booking a table here!nnI booked a table two months before the Euros final. A couple of days before the final I received an email saying the booking has been cancelled and that they'll only accept walk-ins.nnI understand that this decision was made only after England was confirmed for the final, however, leaving it this late means customers can no longer find somewhere else to book. This makes it look like a completely self-serving decision, with no regard for customers.
