really lovely pub, perfect for summer. great beer garden, although we booked an outside table and we’re sat under a canopy so didn’t get much of the sunshine. I’d recommend specifying if you want to sit in the sun when you book!! nnfood was good, a little pricey but as to be expected for the area. £6.50 pints of cider, some beers were cheaper. there’s no table service so you order at the bar.nnoverall - great location and vibe so would defo come back for the summer time!
Lovely and helpful staff, great location, did not enjoy the food unfortunately. Would go again for drinks and garden is a great location. Dog and baby friendly which is a huge plus. Roast dinners not good quality for the price, whole party felt the same about the various roasts we had, ended up leaving some food which I never normally do. Avoided trying dessert as thought it would be similar poor quality. Would love the food to improve as overall lovely pub atmosphere.
Even on a super hot busy Monday, the staff are smiling and friendly. Great service from Georgia in particular. Lovely choice of food and wine… wonderful way to chill out after swimming on the Heath
The highlight: This pub has beautiful and spacious outdoor seating, which is usually very busy on a nice day!nI recommend booking a table in advance via their website.nnThe food needs to be ordered and paid via a QR code and gets served to the table. The drinks need to be ordered at the bar.nnWe visited for Sunday roast - the roast to share had loads of meat. nnThe vegan roast was nice to try, but lacked some flavour and was quite dry even though we used all of the provided gravy. I wouldn't necessarily have it again.nnI recommend the spiced chickpea salad
Garden gate is a favourite place for an afternoon lunch followed by a walk in Hampstead Heath - or do it the other day around, and after foraying in the mud, grabbing a pint or a glass. The atmosphere and the service are warm and friendly - you are in good hands with Izaak and the staff. The food is hearty pub food.
