Some of the finest walks in the Lake district start right on the doorstep, including the Fairfield horseshoe and Loughrigg terrace. Ambleside and Grasmere are close by with spectacular views all around. its not surprising that William Wordsworth chose to spend most of his life at Rydal Mount, a stones throw away behind us on the fell-side.
