Came to the restaurant/pub for lunch, the staff were amazing, friendly and polite, awesome service. We ordered fish & chips and a hamburger, they took a while to come but was worth the wait as they were absolutely delicious! The inside of the pub was a bit dark and there was a fire lit in the fireplace, very atmospheric and I felt I had been teleported back in time, would have hung around longer if I didn't have a tour bus to catch. Highly recommended!
We were invited to drive up to Argyll to help look for property so we booked into The George. They are very dog friendly - bonus! We had an early meal in the bar close to the open fire. The food was very good. Our room was huge, clean, very warm and comfortable. Breakfast, good selection - lovely soft poached eggs I am now trying to think of a reason to go and stay again!
We popped in for some dinner whilst on a day trip and the George looked inviting. The young man who greeted us was very polite and the service excellent. The food was the best we have tasted in a long time, the fish was so fresh and the burger very tasty. All in all we will be going back on our next holiday and the George will be visited again, thank you all.
This absolutely stunning venue is a jewel of the west coast of Scotland. From the rooms to the restaurant, to the beer garden and bar, every detail feels luxury. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the range of food and drink on offer is local and delicious. Highly recommended for a couple nights stay!Rooms: 5/5
Called in looking for somewhere to have lunch. Our choices in the Village were somewhat limited as we have two giant breed dogs with us!! Anyway, we were welcomed, as were the dogs. The food was outstanding, as was the service. My attention was also drawn to a grandfather clock with Masonic depictions on the face, and I was wondering if The George Hotel has any Masonic connections? Food & drinks: Excellent menu with superb quality food in the dishes we had. Noteworthy details: Dog Freindly. Which for us is important
Stopped for lunch in a hurry. We told the man that seated us. He was very helpful. He told our waitress, so she came over quickly and made sure our food was prioritised. Staff were really friendly and a big help. Highly recommend the macaroni cheeseService: 5/5
What a great place. Visited for a friend's birthday as it's their favourite place to go. Dined in both nights, food was lovely and reasonably priced. I had my dog with me and I was able to take him to dinner, breakfast and the pub. I would love to go back.
Didn't stay over but popped in through the day and then in evening whilst staying locally elsewhere. Staff were great and made to feel extremely welcome. Most reasonably priced bar I've been in for a long time, a pleasant surprise. Well done guys Rooms: 5/5
Very nice old hotel. The room I had was brilliant and massive. The only downside was the TV was tiny, but I had my ipad to watch stuff anyway. The shower was huge and very good too. I also had my evening meal in the hotel restaurant. Very nice and good value for money.
Called in for lunch, varied menu to suit all tastes and budgets, dark and cosy atmosphere on a rainy Argyll day. Although usually a carnivore I ordered the vegetarian filo parcels and thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly service the only criticism was that I ordered a coffee which I didn't get - probably due to the bar getting busy very quickly. Will definitely be back.
