I visited for 4 nights on a work trip. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, tasty menu for dinner. The "corporate" set breakfast offered was a bit limited and the set menu with 2 courses was just above my cap-rate for claiming on expenses, but the hotel was a very pleasant stay indeed and I'd be happy to visit again.

Staff are wonderful & can't do enough to help you. The bar is extremely overpriced & they state you are not allowed to bring your own drinks into the hotel. The rooms are very cold, although there is an electric fire, we could not get this working despite asking reception staff. The food is adaquate, but again over priced, not very filling & not the best. The interior decor is lovely & they are dog friendly which is nice. The location is superb.

Excellent food and service. Couldn’t ask for a better location; right next to the water. The staff was attentive to al of our needs. Highly recommend staying at Knockderry Country House.

Came here for a winter weekend with a group of friends on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. We received a warm welcome and were taken to our room. The bedroom was tastefully furnished and scrupulously clean. We gathered in the drawing room with our drinks in front of the fire. Dinner was delicious: the menu was not as extensive as some, but there was excellent choice, including quite a few fish and seafood dishes. In the morning there were plenty of options to choose from at breakfast. Because we were on DB&B we had the full range of dishes to choose from - it might be different for those on B&B. And special mention should be made of the staff who were very attentive and friendly. Downsides? Room 8 did not appeal, because it has no view - the windows are all opaque - and you could hear the kitchen fans. We were given Room 12 which despite being in the attic was airy and spacious. Also there was no phone signal within the building (this is not the hotel's fault) but the WiFi was highly variable, probably due to contention issues. Overall though this hotel is highly recommended and we all agreed that we would be returning some day!
