Lovely dishes, friendly and happy staffs. Seats are quite comfortable. The Seasonal iced tea was homemade and as promised wasn't too sweet. Flat iron steak was served with an excellent sauces that's well seasoned and appropriately creamy. Oyster was fresh. Plan to return to try the fishes and wine pairing.Food: 5/5
Nestled just south of London Bridge train and tube station in Bermondsey, this gastro pub offers a solid dining experience but suffers greatly in ambience. The interior is rustic, featuring a mix of seating options—high tables, standard tables, and bar seating. While the menu is straightforward, the daily specials add variety, with waitstaff bringing out a tray of fresh fish for diners to view—a thoughtful touch that allows customers to appreciate the choices and portion sizes. While the crab salad, with kohlrabi and a mix of white and brown crab meat, was exceptionally fresh and flavorful, and the duck parfait—a smooth duck liver mousse served with a sweet puree and crispy bread—was well-prepared, the seating was cramped and uncomfortable, especially at the high tables. An odd divider in the center of these tables made them feel even more constricted. For mains, the monkfish was excellently cooked, topped with a herb and chili salsa, and served alongside a fennel and cucumber salad. The plaice was equally fresh and well-executed, also accompanied by the same salsa and salad. The house chips, a layered block of potato, were especially noteworthy. However, the ambience left much to be desired. Excessive background noise made conversation difficult, with even the waitress struggling to hear us. This, along with the cramped seating, detracted significantly from the experience, overshadowing an otherwise enjoyable meal.
Ella was a fabulous waitress, warm and friendly. Menu is small but packs a punch. We had the Flat Iron Steak with broccoli plus their seriously life-changing chips. All was delicious and served with charm. We enjoyed a pale ale from a Battersea microbrewery. We’ll be back. Dietary restrictions: The staff were very helpful with gluten intolerance. They made sure we knew what was gluten free and what may have cross contamination.
I came here for Sunday Roast in late September on a long weekend trip visiting from New York City with one other person. I made the reservation a few weeks in advance. This was my first ever Sunday Roast so I don’t have a lot to compare against but I really enjoyed it. The food was well cooked and very hearty. The beef was a little fatty but in fairness maybe it supposed to be? The Yorkshire pudding was great. We also really enjoyed the cauliflower and cheese. Our server was great and very attentive with a great attitude. The restaurant was very charming and in a quiet area and local neighborhood of London. When we came at noon the restaurant was empty but by the time we left a hour later, the restaurant was full. I would recommend and I would go back. Vegetarian options: There were clearly identified vegetarian alternatives on the menu.
We went for the Sunday roast and it was excellent. The service and ambience were excellent too. I believe the lady who looked after us was called Cindy and was really helpful with a lovely attitude. Had the roast pork with a side of cauliflower cheese.Food: 5/5
We came on Monday evening It’s was really busy for a Monday but the man at the front managed to squeeze us in. The waitress was lovely I believe her name was Sydney or Cindy She was helpful and attentive and knew the menu very well! I think they were understaff as I only saw her and the ,i'm guessing, the manager the whole time but it was managed very well. I got the fish and chips So fresh, and the sauce on top was simple but lovely. 10/10
Absolutely the most delicious and creative gastropub I have been in London! This one is a true gem with a simple menu but great care for details. We had the focaccia with olive oil, two flat iron steaks with mushrooms pate and peppercorn sauce, chips and the chocolate dessert. Describing them won’t do it justice. The mushroom taste around the steak was so pure! Absolutely love this place. Around 40-50£ per person but truly worth it. Great service too!
The Sunday roasts were lovely. The pork belly had the crunchiest crackling. The roast beef was delicious though a little tough. I took umbrage with the dressed crab starter which cost £11 but barely contained a teaspoon of crab. When it was served, I thought there had been a mistake as it was mostly tomatoes on toast. Only when I turn the dish did I spot the miniscule blob of crab mixed with loads of mayo and celery bits. I would recommend to only have the Sunday roast if visiting on a Sunday. Don't waste your time and money on starters. Service was efficient and couldn't be faulted.
Great corner spot in the Bermondsey area. Warm & cosy interior colours creating a very pleasant atmosphere. We haven't tried the food but they certainly have a good selection of cocktails, excellent for chilled summer eveningsFood: 5/5
Incredible fresh fish - chips were unreal. Lots of little details that elevated the food like high quality olive oil served with the fish. Service was also excellent - guy with beard and blond lady with really beautiful kind smile - thank you!
