Lovely Sunday Roast at a lovely, local independent pub. Flavours were great for both chicken and beef. Some great beers, including a British take on Weissbier, which was a bit on the lighter side for Weiss, but quite good and refreshing. Great team, nice, polite and helpful people. I just wish that for £19-24 per roast, before gratuity, the portions were a little larger.
Unusual public house. Full of character and charm sitting between traditional local and contemporary cool pub... The Secret Dining Club meets there, Good selection of well kept beers, excellent condition Manchester Bitter from Marble brewery went down well with 2 of us who met in Manchester 40 years ago and met for the first time since at Simon the Tanner... Great staff, friendly and chatty and attentive to other customers at the same time. Love it. Well done Tanner you
Lovely friendly pub, with a great beer selection. Staff are friendly, fast & helpful - particularly Liam. One star removed because they had a ‘DJ’ at 8pm on a Friday. The music was quite niche sounded like elevator music, and loud - meaning it was hard to hear conversations. Said DJ seemed far more interested in his own record mix then whether the music suited the vibe. Otherwise a lovely pub.
Place had a slightly unusual smell when you first walked in. One got used to this smell after being in there for a while. Great selection of beers, including some I haven't seen on tap anywhere side. Staff were adequate. Intimate setting. Seating which fills up. Overall, I would recommend a visit - the choice of beers on tap was a winner.
Very interesting menu and good pub quiz.Food: 4/5
FOR MORE, GO LISTEN TO OUR PODCAST - PUBTROTTERS PUBCAST WE ALWAYS GIVE 5s AS ALL PUBS ARE DIFFERENT AND GREAT! CONTEXT There for a 'meet our baby' social with some friends who hadn't met our 14 week year old daughter. Booked it 3 - 6pm ... we stayed till 8... ATMOSPHERE LOVED this pub! Its slightly off the beaten track near Borough Station in South London, and so for a Saturday afternoon of chilled baby boozing, was perfect atmosphere. Its quite small and you can see everyone from everywhere in the pub. Also some chairs out the front where it really captures the sun in the late afternoon, perfect. SERVICE Staff were lovely, very friendly and accommodating for us and our babyness which we appreciated. Fairly quiet, so if you're looking for a super busy part pub, maybe not this one, but maybe its different on other times. STYLE Classic pub, looks like an oldy from outside and i'm sure has had a few iterations over the years, but the inside is tidy, modern, but keeping with the great pub aesthetic with these awesome looking 'booths' with curtains on them not sure what goes on when curtains are shut, but there you go : . TOILET Smelt lovely from the male end, my only criticism was baby changing was only in female toilets as far as i could see. PRICE London, that is all i'll say, expect premium pay. £6.70 for one pint, varied depending on what you ordered though. FOOD & DRINK SUPERB beer selection, both cast and keg, there seemed to be great choice of wine and spirits drank by our friends as well. We also had some polenta fries as a snack later on that were AMAZING! So yea well worth it.
I always enjoy coming to this place, the choice of beers is always good, with some that I haven't seen elsewhere, including low alc and gluten-free options. The Sunday roast is a must-do.Food: 5/5
Spent 2 nights in London recently - visited Simon The Tanner both evenings such was the fun we had on the first night. has all the Hallmarks of a local pub appeared to have a fair few regulars and we were made to feel really welcome from all of the staff. Solid selection of craft and cask including London Black. Will definitely stop by here when we're back in London next.
Best vegan roast I’ve ever had! Service was fast and friendly. Gravy was delicious too. Will definitely be back :Food: 5/5
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely delicious food. Potato wedges were out of this world, as were the green beans. The main dishes were excellent as well. Truly a gem in this neighborhood!Food: 5/5
