Tonight we had one of the tastiest meals we’ve had for a long time. The meals were full of flavour and well cooked and presented. The service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely return when visiting Wells again. Well done everyone.

Food was delicious when we eventually got it but service way too laid back. First they forgot to tell us our table was ready. 20 minutes after time we asked when we could sit down and they cheerfully said they had forgotten us! Then took us upstairs to a table where one of us would have to sit practically in the doorway. So we said we could not sit there and so they magically found us a better table back downstairs. All good after that although the lady did not seem to know what foods were gluten free and it would have been nice to have been offered a bit of discount for our long wait.

Usually great, this evening was not The Fountain at its best. Over an hour from sitting down until the food arrived. Drinks had already taken a while to arrive. Food was good - usually it's great. The chicken pie lacked meat under the crust. Waitress worked hard - but couldn't cover the problems - left her a tip to recognise her efforts. Can only think that the large party upstairs meant that clients downstairs took second place. Management did not seem to notice the obvious failings. Overall a five out of ten from a place that is usually eight or nine. Shame.

Told by locals this is a good place to eat. They were right. Simple food, well cooked. A shots menu but longer on taste. I left feeling I had eaten quality pub grub.

Unfortunately we couldn't get a table for dinner but we had a few drinks at the bar. Bar staff are great and the pub has a pleasant atmosphere. The food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked good.
