Great food and staff. Have been several times in the last few months and have enjoyed the food every time.
The Fisherman never fails to deliver, Sunday roast was quality, great atmosphere and friendly staff. There's usually a wait for the food, but this is expected because it's always busy. Highly recommended.
Wow. This place has changed significantly! And for the better! It's beautiful and stylish. My family lives across the street and I remember being really young and there were goats, chickens, and rabbits out back of this pub, like, 20 years ago! That's not the case anymore but instead, there's a lovely porch/patio dinning area with a retractable ceiling! Lots and lots of outdoor seating. The food was great, had a pint of cider, and just enjoyed ourselves! We visited twice during my 1-week vacation from across the pond. Cheers!
Went and sat in the garden first time coming it was amazing had a meatball baguette with sweet potato fries and onion rings my bf had a steak and onion baguette was all amazing would 100% recommend will definitely be back.
Our table didn’t look like it had been cleaned, as my side had crumbs and was wet from where a drink had been placed. The vegetable tortilla basket was bland. There was a small kick of spice in the seasoning, but you’ll need to add salt at the table. A very underwhelming option for vegetarians. I think you should stick with the basics if you eat meat, as the rest of my party seemed to enjoy their meal more. They kindly allowed us to substitute the chips for garlic bread with the lasagne.
Lovely, quiet pub to the west of Stevenage. A McMullen chain menu all well cooked and presented, including vegan options. We were a booked group of nine and just fitted onto the table reserved for us. They happily waited for some of our party who arrived almost half an hour late. Service was excellent. Car park had plenty of space for our Sunday lunch. Highly recommended.
I came here on my birthday for a Sunday Roast with some friends. I had booked a reservation for 4 people. A couple of days before, one of our friends came over from Portugal, and I invited him to join us, so we called to add one person. We were more than happy to squeeze in the same table. They said no because of "security reasons", basically "computer says no". "Speak to the manager on the day", they said. On arrival, we talked to the manager. Again, we were more than happy to squeeze together in the same table, but he wasn't very helpful. "Should've called ahead", he said. Which we had done. Guess he expected my friend to turn back and go home?! Anyway, we insisted and eventually I spotted an empty table, which he confirmed was free. He still argued that we wouldn't fit, but we did, comfortably, with spare room for one more person, even. It was a Sunday, and they had pork, chicken, lamb and beef roast. It was not good. The taste was bland on all of them, and the Yorkshire pudding was dry and crunchy. My friend ordered the beef roast and they gave her pork. After the initial confusion, the manager was nice and even recommended some starters. But overall the staff was not very helpful. I will not be coming again to this place.
We found this place to be the perfect halfway stop off on our journey so popped in a lunchtime for a meal, the place is very clean, modern and lively with great staff who were very welcoming and friendly. The portion sizes were good but the quality of the food was the letdown here, just very bland and flavourless and nothing special like the place kind of promises from the looks of it and the prices which were not cheap at all. We'll try someplace else in the area next we are passing or just grab a takeaway. I don't mind spending good money on good food if that's what ya do get.
Great pub, good ambience, attentive staff, but this time the food experience was mixed. Starters were good, but srilankan curry and burger disappointed us a lot. Manager was kind enough not to charge us for the curry. We have visited in the past and liked the pub food there. There is ample parking too.
Lunch at 1.45, not overly busy some empty tables. Nice that since reopening you can book a table. Very friendly helpful efficient staf who were attentive but not overly. Reasonably priced food with good portions and food served hot. Will visit again and recommend trying.
