Story

“The words ‘unique’, ‘innovative’ and ‘exciting’ are casually bandied around in the food world, but there are very few chefs doing what the Ethicurean team have achieved so successfully. The vast majority of their produce comes from a single garden and from suppliers located just down the road; they seek to find local alternatives to foreign ingredients when creating their dishes; and they are celebrating and thoroughly updating British cooking, with the utmost integrity and respect for tradition and ingredients. They are setting the standard for how we will all be sourcing our food and cooking at home in the next few decades,”

My wife and I visited for the first time today and were both delighted by the experience. Beautiful countryside location, Victorian walled garden, friendly staff and delicious on-site grown food. It felt like accidentally going on holiday. As vegans, we found the parsnip soup and roasted cauliflower particularly out of this world, yet my wife maintains her chocolate brownie is far better (and I agree) ie. it was good, but after the first two courses we were expecting a third heavenly experience. To paraphrase a second film in this short review, we'll definitely be back!

Loved this place! We went for coffee and cake, great ambiance, delicious cakes and very good coffee. Staff was lovely as well. They grow their own crops and you see the field in your way in. Is a bit hidden so look out for the wooden barrel at the entrance! We'll go back in summer to enjoy the terrace, the views seem excellent.

A smallish restaurant with a wonderful walled garden. They serve a set menu that changes each week as the ingredients are sourced either from the grounds of from local renewable suppliers. I went for an evening meal of 5 courses. The dishes weren't big but after 5 it's still plenty of food. Would definitely recommend.

Very tasty food which was well explained. Nice wine flight with local wines to match the home grown produce. A great experience with a nice fire to keep us warm.

GORGEOUS, gorgeous place. Delicious food, and wonderful atmosphere. We went for the Wassailing event, apple themed menu, with folk music and story telling in between courses. Then a walk in to the orchards for a bonfire and cider.
