Escala is located on the seafront in Clevedon on a currently one-way road, close to the Clevedon Pier.nParking is currently FREE on the road outside for up to 4 hours but this may soon change to paid by parking metre, so check the signage.nnEscala is lovely setting with 3 choices of seating location:nOutside, Conservatory seating glass roof & inside.nLovely decor with lots to look at, and produce displayed which is available to purchase.nBut let's talk food, shall we?nWe don't do this often so we ordered lots:nnCroquettes Sweet Potato, Red Pepper, Coats Cheese....nnButternut squash salad with courgette, red pepper, crispy kale, goats cheese & walnutsnnWhole PlaceLemon Caper Parsley Butter, Morocco VerdennChorizo Poached in Cider & Red WinennPork & Beef Meatballs , rich tomato saucennSardines, Pickled Red Onions, CarersnnBrava crispy Potatoes, Confident Garlic Aioli, Bravas SaucennBrocoli I forgot to write the whole description down, but was deliciousnnDessertnSeville Citrus Posset, berry jam, Orange Torte &nChocolate Cremeux, Olive Oil, Sea Salt, Chocolate SoilnnWith jugs of water provided, and a wide choice of soft drinks available.nnService was great, with our questions answered knowledgeably, and speed of service was excellent. They serve small plates that you graze from, so we didn't expect everything to arrive together, but all arrived in a timely manner, which suited us perfectly.nnWe were told that their menu evolves seasonally, so is continuously updated.nn10% service charge is automatically added to the bill, this is optional, but we felt well deserved.nnThe items iindicates our favourites.nnVery enjoyable, we will be back.nnThanks for looking after us
A lovely restaurant with a warm Spanish vibe.nThe food overall was delicious, well-prepared, and nicely presented and of good portion size.nI would have rated five stars, but I felt one dish in particular – the chicken thigh at £10.50 – didn’t offer the best value. While it was cooked beautifully, the portion size just a single piece felt a little underwhelming, even taking into account that it’s a tapas-style menu.nnIn terms of service, everything was timely and efficient, though I did feel that one staff member seemed a little less approachable on the day. This may have just been a one-off impression, and others may well have a different experience.nnOverall, the atmosphere and quality of the food were great and I’d return in the future but maybe ask more questions about the potion sizes.
Lunch stop on bank holiday Monday. We didn’t make a reservation but staff were helpful and we were seated no problem.nFood and service were great. Lovely seafront location.
The location is nice, overlooking the sea and Clevedon pier.nStaff members are friendly and polite. Food was tasty but some dishes are very small and not really for sharing which is kind of agains the principle of tapas.nMenu clearly states that dishes come out when they are ready. Fair enough however in our case majority of the dishes came out in decent timing while the steak was so delayed that we had to either wait with other food and let it go a bit cold or eat the stake on its own.nOverall a good restaurant with tasty food but the service timing needs to improve and the size of some dishes need to get better as it is really unbalanced some dishes were good size for sharing while other were so small it's barely a bites size for one person looking at the fact that it's not a cheap restaurant I'm sure they can improve on that aspect.nAlso worth noting that 10% service charge is automatically added to the bill. Technically nothing wrong with that but I'm not a fan of such solution. Tip should reflect the service received not be automatically added, but maybe that's just me.nRestaurant is also card only, no cash accepted.
Visited Escala on a Friday night. From the get go the atmosphere was lovely. We had a lovely lady seat us. We ordered a nice bottle of white wine and browsed the menu. The menu has a selection of great choices. Every dish we had was stunning - attached photos with what it is. Really recommend the scallops & sprouts!!
