This will be a tricky one to review - trying to write a fair review basing a score on expectations versus reality.

Expectations: it’s a chain restaurant in all DoubleTrees - and the hotel is plastered with pictures of Marco Pierre White. Not particularly tasteful and a bit in your face. Overpriced due to premium of being the hotel restaurant. 

Reality: so Marco Pierre White’s face is still everywhere in the dining room but apart from that, it’s a nice setting - cozy and moody. Service is on point. We both had rib eye steaks, and regretfully asked for medium rare (I was hopeful that being a steakhouse, this might be done correctly) but got medium. Nevertheless, still tasty and the side of fries and French beans (also slightly overcooked) were good. Overpriced due to premium of being a hotel restaurant. I’d be annoyed if dining in a major city but this is likely one of the better options in the surrounding area anyway. The next evening, we visited the bar for a quick drink. This was a nice setting and again, very good service. 

Overall, the restaurant, bar and experience exceeded expectations, and it ought to given the price. Would I visit again? If staying at the hotel, absolutely.

As expected, great surroundings and quality food. The staff are very well trained and have excellent customer service!

Disappointed. The guy working was great, but it was his last night. The other staff members all average. Food, considering we had chateaubriand for £60 was just ok. I’d eat in the bar if I were you
