The Railway inn is not so great as a pub. I find the large bar, the clear area in front of it and the busy uniformed staff make it feel less welcoming than a proper local pub. However, I've given it five stars because the restaurant, and the cooking especially, is fabulous. The menu is limited, but changes regularly, and the food is always excellent. We've eaten there several times - as a family, an evening meal with just my partner, for lunch, and for a pint and a pizza in the patio. Each time the food was delicious and the service friendly and efficient. Booking is advised as this place is extremely popular, especially in the summer. Will I be eating there again? A resounding yes, but for a pint and a chat with friends I would prefer a less corporate atmosphere.

Seeing as this is Thatcher owned I find it mind boggling that the house ciders are 4.50 a bottle/pint but that's by the by. The factory s just behind so I am assuming there must be some hidden import/travel costs!! Asked about a local fair in April of which they had posters on the wall and was greeted with a blank face (bar manager). 'We don't sell tickets here' was the response. Thanks for the information. Thatcher s have a shop selling cider next door which I quickly visited after our visit to the pub , I arrived at 5.58pm with two minutes to go till they closed and felt like I had asked the woman for moon rock. the lady was annoyed I had entered just as she wanted to close...Stupidly I asked about the takeaway flagons. She abruptly stopped me and told me to leave via the back door. Had I stolen anything no , did I break any rules No. There must be a few bad apples managerial speaking because I can't understand why you wouldn't want to work for such a great Somerset product....

Lovely place with lots of seating and gurt lush food! Used to be an old one room cottage-style pub but has been significantly updated with several major girders to expand the buildings. The old part is still cosy with leather chairs and sofas and behind the bar is an unfussy glass enclosed restaurant with chunky wooden furniture. Lovely staff and yummy fish and chips. Monday's are the least busy lunchtime, but as a group of 15 we booked a table to make sure we could get our lunch.

We had a great meal here as a family. Everyone tried different dishes and they were all good, really tasty and very nicely presented. The atmosphere was great, every table was full and so was the bar. Great selection of ciders too obviously

Our meals were superb, presented beautifully and the environment was lovely except a little cold. We were able to chat and really take our time. This was our first visit and just what I hoped it would be and more.
