Used to be one of our favourites, but the quality of the food is now markedly lower than it has been in the past. It’s not unforgivably bad, it’s just average, rather on the dull side. For the price, I’d expect the luscious flavoursome food of its former glory, but sadly it’s just a bit disappointing. I didn’t experience the customer service issues others seem to have; they were friendly and respectful when I popped in, if very busy handling calls and deliveries.
My partner and I loved this place. They were the only Indian take away that catered for vegans with a variety of curries that weren’t just a “vegetable option”and offered all sorts of alternatives from tofu curries to various fake meat options. I have gone to order and checked their new menu which now appears to have none of these dishes. The vegan dishes have been completely removed and so with it that wow-factor. It is a complete shame as we always travelled outside of our area to pick up food from there and now we will have to find alternatives. Resounding disappointment.
Didn’t receive 2 items I ordered, when I called I was told it’s the delivery drivers fault for not checking the order before he left, but surely it’s down to the restaurant.received Rude customer service, when I called and found a massive lump of butter cold in the middle of my naan. Never again
This used to be our favourite Friday night curry, mainly because they did amazing vegan dishes which my partner loved, and the meaty curries were pretty good too. Now they’ve removed the vegan options entirely we won’t be ordering from here again. Such a shame as we’ve been regular customers for a few years!
We were on holiday in London, staying at nearby Airbnb. The food was prepared quickly and efficiently, the staff were very friendly and smiling while I waited. We order for 8 people 4 adults / 4 children, so there was a mix of Vindaloo hot and flavoursome, Korma, Butten chicken mild but no means bland and so on. And the food itself was excellent. The lamb in the saag could have been more tender but overall the flavours were spot-on, the highlight being the fresh and delicious naans. My family and I agreed, we would definitely eat there again if we got the opportunity.
Just had delivery, the onions were NOT cooked, the meat was not tender at all and the mustard seeds were not properly cooked. The biryani tasted bland. I spent around £30 which is why at least food must be cooked properly for customers.
I'm not sure whats happened to this place it used to be my favourite. The food arrived lukewarm and took over an hour despite being a wendsday and living 5 mins down the road, Soggy poppadoms and off mint dip that I unfortunately poured all over my plate and spoilt my meal. Was then sick and went to bed hungry. They accepted the fault and have agreed to refund me. Will not be going back after years of being my go-to curry house. Need to up their game.
Food was over an hour late and it arrived room temperature. Normally it’s great quality and early but this time it was really disappointing, food was not up to the normal standard, naan slightly burnt, onion bhajis incredibly oily, tandoori chicken pale with no charr. I haven’t ordered in a few months and apparently the owners have changed. Looks like I need to find a new curry place.
Really disappointing service from new management!!! No longer providing vegan dishes! One of my favourite restaurants that we ordered from frequently. Went from being one of the best to one of the worst instantly. How can an Indian restaurant not cater to serve vegans as well as vegetarian! Such a shortsighted decision for something your chefs could deliver so easily to such a high standard! I’ve recommended to all my neighbours to visit this restaurant and now I can’t order anything on the menu! Will not recommend again until the decision changes.
The Dewaniam used to offer a brilliant vegan menu before the old management moved on to open a new restaurant in Brixton. The new managers aren't offering a vegan menu and must be surprised by how much the restaurant's turnover has fallen. And given how expensive the dishes were, the profit margins must have been fantastic. So they've lost loyal supporters and lost good business. Very silly.
