The Devil's Advocate in Old Town Edinburgh is a bar and restaurant in an old Victorian pump house in Advocate's Close.

Our seasonal cocktail menu is crafted by award-winning bartenders. Our bar features over 300 of the best whiskies in the world. Our food menu features local Scottish produce and changes on a monthly basis.

The Devil's Advocate is a project of Stuart McCluskey, the creator of Bon Vivant Thistle Street, The Bon Vivant Companion, El Cartel Mexican and Pep and Fodder.

From the drinks menu to the food menu, you will not be disappointed! Beautiful settings in the old town of Edinburgh, this venue offers amazing food cooked to perfection. The bar has so many whisky options and a team full of knowledge, I fully recommend and is in my top 10 to visit.
Good food, but weird in Corona time all these walking routes but we had a good time here. We had to order via an app which took us a wee while, but that also went smoothly after all. Nice hideaway in a beautiful alley, we all got a bit of a Harry Potter feel there...
Really great experience. Climatic, dim rooms with pleasant lights. Nice and fast service. Delicious food! I usually have some comments about the meat but not here. I teally enjoyed. Even if you need to wait for the table, its worth!
Great setting and decor. Large whiskey list with some cocktails also available. Dont drink too much though as it's a long walk back up the stone steps to the main road ;
Called in for drink and had a wonderful experience. Staff where welcoming and consistent with their service. We chose to sit outside which was extremely chilled. Perfect little hideaway for a casual relaxed drink.
Amazing food steaks were beautiful, pricey drinks but they were lovely and gave a good kick first time visiting Edinburgh the service was lovely.
Service was absolutely amazing and the online ordering was easy to do. Food was lovely and the drinks were very nice too. Staff were helpful and friendly Loved the atmosphere! Definitely recommend
