I've managed to have lunch a couple of times recently, and the food is great. I tend to go for the fish dish as I like a light lunch. I highly recommend the restaurant. I would loved to have had wine with my meal.....maybe this will be allowed again in 2021
So far had two fantastic lunches here! If I lived in Edinburgh, I'd be eating here every week at least! Amazing food and value! Lovely, efficient staff! Great view, if you can get a table closer to the windows! Octopus photo is after I took a bite, couldn't wait!
Great food and a nice view of the castle!
I very much enjoyed my visit and food but had I been more sensitive to keeping in line with social distancing, I would have had to leave as all the tables are still very close together.

Amazing food but ok service. I highly recommend the burger and the garlic fries. Overall great restaurant. The garlic fries were the highlight of the meal.
Loved the decor and meals. I loved the grilled Herring. Wife enjoyed her pulled pork sandwich and is a little messy to eat. Steak frites wasn't a hit with my son who found the meat tough and overly peppery I'd agree. Still a great place for lunch.
The Outsider is brilliant - the best value lunch I’ve had in years. The dishes are thoughtful and well composed. The prices are truly excellent given the location and the stylish setting. Service is attentive and brisk. Full marks.
