"Unique city centre restaurant in historic setting near the castle. Historic stone store rooms. Modern Scottish. Fresh and modern quality cooking, delightful staff, fun atmosphere. This is an upstairs vaulted stone cellar - approached from Victoria Street below. The modern staircase opens into a series of rooms or chambers, with attractive bare stone walls, superb arched sash windows, stripped wood floors, all original, tasteful and simply refurbished with wood furniture and fittings. Carlo Coxon's cooking is accomplished, innovative and delicious and the menu changes according to seasonal availability."

Went there for my birthday celebration. All the dishes we ordered were amazingly tasty, even the bread was homemade and very nice. I even wanted to buy some home. The staff was very friendly. The environment and decor were nice also. Enjoyed our meals and had a great celebration.

Possibly the best restaurant in Edinburgh. The food is absolutely exquisite with extremely friendly staff and the most beautiful surroundings. This place has to be seen and enjoyed to believe. Proprietor and Chef Carlo is a gentleman and a culinary genius.

We had a wonderful time at the grain store. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The restaurant is really well located and romantic! Hope to visit again when we are next in Edinburgh as this place is a real treat.

The atmosphere is really authentic and rustic style with stone walls. Fine dining with amazing presentation. Service is very professional and friendly. I really enjoyed my dinner their.

This is where I go for very special occasions. I went for my birthday in September and the food was the best I have eaten in my living memory. In my experience, it is particularly good for game - though to be fair that's what I always order.
