The Cricketers

About

In an age when the traditional town pub has died a death, The Cricketers is a real find - with oak-paneled interior, cask ale and locally sourced menu.

Story

In an age when the traditional town pub has died a death, The Cricketers Arms, Leamington Spa is a proper find, a dying breed, a jewel in the crown, a haven, a place where everybody knows your name, where they're always glad you came...

During the day it’s a place to escape the mean streets of ‘the Spa’ and enjoy a pint or a freshly ground coffee with a paper, bring in your computer and the use the free wi-fi whilst you work from home, or settle in for a spot of lunch. Early doors, it's an ideal place to see a wonderful cross section of Leamington's white & blue collared populace and later an opportunity to slum it with the locals. Either way, you wont escape the rather relentless banter forced on you by your rather eccentric hosts.

Mark ‘Smurf’ Docker, born within metres of this venue (True story- do ask; he loves to recount his life story! Again and again- make it stop- dear god please!) and has returned as the new owner/operator (he managed it for a couple of years- liked it so much, he bought it!) after finally abandoning his stand up comedic dreams after discovering that audiences had the ability to leave. Now the tables have turned.

What you will receive is a warm welcome, a reminder of why you ventured out in the first place, cracking cask ales, lagers for the ladies, gluggable wines and stunning home cooked, locally sourced food (Iceland is just streets away!) Families are welcome (there's a toy box with games, crayons and books - for the kids) and there's a lovely secret heated garden out the back and all. Décor is bright, clean and traditional, there’s a darts board and sport on (not constantly - who wants to see Women's Beach Volleyball anyway?) and some timber & oak paneling so that’s nice.

We have just had one of the best Sunday roasts in Warwickshire here. My wife had the lamb and I had the beef. Absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately we only have pictures of empty plates of the pudding as it was so nice
This is a delightful pub, recommended to me by a friend, and my extended family all enjoyed themselves. It is located opposite a gorgeous park, which my little girl adored, and there is loads of street parking. The Sunday lunches were particularly delicious - I think there was at least six different vegetables accompanying the roast and Yorkshire puddings. The gravy was driving and rich. The lamb, which I had, was flavoursome and tender. I would definitely come back for a Sunday lunch! I would, however, say that the desserts really did not live up to the quality of the main course, but that did bother me too much as the main course was huge.
Excellent service and food was so on point.. definitely worth a visit. The roast I had was to die for and the gravy is a game changer, Vegi converter..
Dropped in for a couple of pints in this nice well kept pub. Enjoyed our visit here definitely recommend.
Tucked away in one of Leamington's quieter side streets & adjacent the town's world renowned bowling greens, this excellent pub has a great selection of beers & great food at reasonable prices. Also has a well appointed beer garden out the back with a few infrared heaters on those colder evenings. A really nice place & well worth a visit.
Really friendly local pub that serves good food, is very dog friendly and has great ales. Also shows sport but in a very family-friendly / subdued way. Great pub!
Very dog friendly which helps being so close to Victoria park. Bar staff are really friendly and inviting. Good selection of drinks, ales in particular. We had a chicken and bacon salad and BBq ribs. Food was great, will absolutely be returning and having the ribs again!
Fantastic Burger meal. It may initially look expensive for a Burger. But you get a full meal presentation. Great Burger, well dressed salad & Chips on a large plate. So the high price is justified.
Nice pub, on the back streets of Leamington, overlooking the Bowls club, good quality food served, and 3 ales on at the time of my visit, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff.
Lovely atmosphere friendly staff, very accommodating and polite. Great little gem of a local public house..great choice of beverages and the menu is very good.
