Story

Just a few minutes stroll from the shopping heart of Leamington Spa, the Star & Garter is a lovely old town centre pub. Recently renovated, there are still plenty of snug corners in the classic bar where you can enjoy a pint, a glass of decent wine or a coffee with friends. And now the bar leads into a smart, quirkily-decorated eatery beside an open kitchen that turns out top quality fresh food all day and evening. Great parties are on the agenda too in the glamorous star-studded room upstairs, where French windows lead onto a private terrace. And if you really have to work, there’s free Wi-Fi and plenty of sockets throughout the pub.

Being fortunate enough to have visited some top of the range dining establishments i have to say that the star & garter is definitely right up there. How we've missed it as it's only a stones throw from home is a mystery. The service is outstanding, as is the ambience and the food, being seated close to the kitchen giving us a look at almost every dish as it passed, looks and smells fantastic. Our starters, main courses and puddings were of the highest quality. I couldn't recommend it more. Fantastic work everyone involved!

Very nice staff and a pleasant environment. It is dog friendly in the front bar area and kid friendly during daylight hours. Drink selection is a bit above average. We went for Sunday lunch. The roast was pretty good but at £17.50 for the special, it was a bit less than hoped for. The fish and chips was crispy and above average. Would definitely go back if in the neighborhood.

When this pub was originally refurbished I used to eat in here all the time as it was great value for money and they served excellent food. Unfortunately over the years the prices went up and up and the quality went down - they got complacent in my opinion. I promised myself that I would not eat in there again. However, I was talked into going there by our friends as it is so close and we just wanted a quick meal. The meal was that bad my friends asked for a refund and it was offered without a quibble as they could see the food was dry and cold. You hardly get any veg with your meals either for some reason. On the plus side the beer has got much better there now as your pint of ale now comes with a decent head on it as it used to be served flat (this is down to the excellent barman who joined them from The Cape in Warwick). I'm hoping this review is taken as constructive criticism as It would be great if they took note of this review and sorted out the kitchen so we can start going back!

Amazing Sunday roast! I had the Winter Vegetable Wellington, my partner had the lamb roast. Plenty of food on the plate and good quality + the Yorkshire puddings are massive which is always a bonus. Drinks are quite pricey but we only went for food.

What a fantastic restaurant and pub. Absolutely delicious food with a great menu and even better specials. Attentive and casual the vibe here is one of the best in Leamington and definitely worth a visit, or two. High recommend.
