Have been a few times recently and very pleasantly surprised how good the food was. I can also recommend the buffet service provided by The Chequers for a wake! Modern, tasty food. Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble for our waitress! 😀

This would have been 5 stars for a lovely Mothers day meal. BUT at 9.30 all the staff but one disappeared we sat down at 8.00 and at 9.30 our waitresses came and said goodbye as she had finished her shift, it then was 10.30 before we got our deserts. This was because one waitresses was clearing tables, taking orders for food and drink, then delivering to tables and could not cope. The food was very good considering they had been going at it since 12.00 so well done to the kitchen staff.

This was our second visit. There was 6 of us and the kitchen only had 3 wagyu burgers. We want 5 wagyu burgers. Ended up with a beef burger not too bad but a bit dry. Ah well Our first visit - the kitchen grill wasn't working. Not sure am gonna make it a 3rd time.

We went to this restaurant 2 days ago and to say the least it was awful! We had booked a table for 3.30 but didn’t get seated until 4.15! We also told them we had a pram with us when we booked and we had to awkwardly carry the pram up 4 steps! We then ordered our food. We all had staters (there was 6 of us), and it took an hour for the starters to come, when they did they were nice. I had the prawn and lobster cocktail which ended up giving me food poisoning! And when we were seated we were told they had no steaks and no pies which was the majority of the menu apart from roasts and burgers! So we all decided on a roast, no problem....until about half hour after we ordered our mains we were told they had ran out of roast potatoes so we was offered either chips or mash! (Don’t understand how they done mash but couldn’t manage roasts unless the mash was packet!) so we all chose mash, and again this took a good while to come, and also throughout the whole service the waitress didn’t have a name badge on and had bad attitude like she didn’t care! So anyway we ate our mains which were nice but decided not to have a pudding as they probably didn’t have any! Oh and also they ran out of lemonade. The waitress did however take £30 off the bill total due to the roast potato issue but I did get horrific food poisoning from my starter, will never go again and would not recommend at all! Service was very slow, rude staff and long waits for food...if they have any!
