Great place to stay. Rooms available, being limited in number are well sized and have good decor. Very comfortable bed and over all a very pleasant experience.
I can’t fault the service or the staff were polite and the service was fast and on point. The room was clean and tidy however had no window except for a sky light with an automatic blind and window. Unfortunately for us someone had set the blind to open every hr after 7am. That was annoying until I figured out the hidden menu in the digital remote. Beds weren’t together even though it was booked as a queen room, not two singles. Shower was ok, water pressure good but there is no shelf to place your shampoo etc. Also the ceiling mounted shower head was one that had you walk around underneath chasing the stream. All in all it was an OK stay and worked for us for the two days.
Can't rate the rooms as I wasn't staying... Service is a bit hit and miss, most staff are actually very nice, polite and professional however on the occasion they hire really young people that just don't really care, they're only there to make some dosh and tables won't get wiped, customers don't get a smile ... So on... Nothing worse than a grumpy looking waiter/waitress and a sticky table at least for me that is.nLove the place thou, specially when they have the fire going in the winter, it's cozy and lovely. Food is ok, done properly.
Just to clarify, we didn't use the hotel just the pub.nGreat location as its a stone's throw from the beach and the train station.nBeautiful front to the building with big clean glass windows, inviting entrance and a great side entry for wheelchair access.nThe bar is spacious and well staffed so the waiting time for service was very quick.nThe floorstaff kept the tables spotless and the floor was very clean.nThe upstairs toilets were very grande and there was evidence and homage to the buildings previous history which was a Co-op store.nThe area itself, Dovercourt, has a lot of Naval history and influence, so plenty to absorb yourself into.nGreatly enjoyed experience.
Lovely and clean, our room looked recently decorated- I don't know if it was.nSuper king bed and a big walk in shower, the room was great. Only improvement would be a smart tv.n2 security doors that meant rooms were secure and quiet from the pubnnHandy for walking into old harwich, about 20 min walk, 2 mins from the beach and good old spoons breakfastnRecommended
