Story

The Black Labrador is a small country pub situated in the heart of the lyth valley, to which you are warmly welcomed with our cosy log burners and friendly service.

Our warm, homely atmosphere and helpful staff make this pub a real treasure, whether in for a quiet drink or a peaceful meal, we hope you enjoy your experience with us.

All our meals are freshly cooked to order, so your understanding would be much appreciated in delays at busy periods. We select local produce from surrounding suppliers wherever possible in our meals so it comes to you at its best! Food is served 12-2 and 6-9, 6 days a week. We are closed all day on Tuesdays. We also provide a takeaway menu with the simple basic's of our menu e.g Fish and Chips.

We had heard stories, they were all true. Great food, pleasant surroundings and of course, amazing service from the team. If you're nearby, go see for yourself. Thank me later.
Very welcoming cozy pub. We made a reservation and asked for a quiet table as our son is autistic. Staff gave us a great table and we were made to feel comfortable by the lovely lady serving us. Food was great also!! We will return when we are back in the lakes.
If you're visiting the Lake District, this pub is an absolute must. We cannot recommend highly enough - excellent food, we had the lobster / crab ravioli and the steak + ale pie, followed by vanilla panacotta. All absolutely delicious , the kitchen certainly knows what they're doing! And, on top of great food, a lovely atmosphere and the staff are all super friendly, professional and attentive - despite being super busy and having a full house for dinner! A big thumbs up from us at 'The Bothy' we will most definitely be returning to this gem of a pub when we revisit the area!! Thank you guys for a perfect last evening meal during our break
Absolutely love this place. We've been quite a few times and it's always been fab. We decided to book dinner here the night before our wedding and even with 25 people the service and food was incredible. Thank you for such a memorable evening, you guys are amazing.
I only stopped in quickly to have a drink, and I’m so glad I did. This is a gorgeous, rustic pub with full table service and also a cosy lounge area by a fire with couches. Thanks for being dog friendly, it’s just what we needed after a cold rainy hike!
Fabulous food, staff,service decor, and atmosphere. We wish our local dying on its feet had half the business acumen of this pub! It ticks all the boxes.

We had good food , served promptly and brilliant customer service at this beautifully decorated restaurant. Brilliant idea of a menu for the dogs. Our 2 canine companions were treated really well. Thoroughly recommended for any dig- owners wanting a really good dining experience.
