After visiting Matlock Bath for years on a motorbike, we never had been to Matlock town. My partner and I were looking at the local antiques shops when we saw the Bistro. The menu was varied and very reasonable prices. I saw the full breakfast and thought, " yes please ". Unfortunately, the breakfast was only available until Midday and it was well past 1pm. The very kind owner said no problem and proceeded to cook us both a full English. Very well cooked bacon, sausage and egg, thick toasted doorstop bread, hash browns and beans. I'm not a fan of mushrooms but the gaffer said they were spot on. Definitely very filling and value for money. Had a nice chat with the owner after eating and it certainly made our day. Well recommended.
Breakfast sandwiches were fantastic, service quick, recommend everyone try it! Really good value and quality produce. Thankyou for a great breakfast :Food: 5/5
We had an amazing breakfast at this Bistro cafe and the staff were fantastic. This place was tucked away through a courtyard, a cozy little cafe in the heart of matlock. The breakfast and coffee was delicious and gorgeously presented. It was good value for money. We had a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend this business to others. Glen
A nice no-frills cafe. We had breakfast here. Service was very quick and good came in less than 10 minutes. Coffee also wasn’t too bad. We got a full English - good portion size and tasted pretty nice. Reasonably priced - just under £10 each including the hot drink. Staff all very friendly too. Would recommend! Parking: Parking just around the corner by the river - £2.70 for 2 hours
5 star experience all round pet welcoming the quality of the food was exceptional and very fair prices too. Freshly ground coffee what more could you want, this is the perfect way to start your day! If your looking for a good breakfast then look no further than matlock bistro cafe. 10 out of 10! 5 stars Food: 5/5
We visited this lovely little cafe on Wednesday, and we were very impressed with the quality and price of the food. Service was prompt and friendly, coffee lovely & hot & the food was amazing. We would recommend the bacon, cranberry & brie roll with fries & salad. Generous portions & very tasty. We will call in again.Food: 5/5
What a perfect little cafe. Stopped in here to grab breakfast/brunch, it's just off the main Street and I couldn't recommend it more wholeheartedly. The staff I think owners were so helpful and our breakfast/coffee was great.Food: 5/5
My 1st time visiting here for a long while. Had a lovely breakfast. One of the best I've had in a long while. The cappuccino, with real chocolate sprinkles was delicious. Friendly and welcoming staff. Nothing was to much trouble. Dog friendly . Very reasonably priced. Will be calling in again.
We had a short visit to Matlock and ate at this Bistro. The portions were very generous, well cooked and of high quality. The service and ambiance were both good and we would definitely recommend it for its value, warm welcome, and menu including gluten free. Lots of variety at a reasonable price. Suggest you try it.Food: 5/5
Today, I visited the Matlock Bistro Cafe with my wife and two kids. After being cooped up in the car for hours, I was desperate for a hearty full English breakfast. The signs promising a "hidden little gem" and a "bistro" got my hopes up. Little did I know, we were walking into a scene straight out of a horror movie. The cafe was dark, dingy, and had the moisture level of a rainforest. Still, I clung to the hope that the food might be the redeeming feature. Then I saw the menu. £12.95 for a full English breakfast consisting of one lonely sausage, a solitary egg, a strip of bacon, and some sad-looking trimmings. Was this breakfast or a crime scene? I couldn't believe my eyes. I asked the lady behind the counter if the price was a mistake, to which she snapped, "Welcome to Matlock," as if this justified daylight robbery. Her attitude was as warm as a snowman's handshake. To put it into perspective, just around the corner, you can get fish and chips for £7.50—a dish that involves actual fish, which I believe is more expensive than pork. So, why on earth does a bit more sausage and bacon cost an extra six quid here? Is there a sausage shortage I haven't heard about? Unless you're keen on getting fleeced and treated like an unwelcome guest, steer clear of this place. Consider yourself warned: this "hidden gem" is best left buried.
