Had the tea for 2 this afternoon and had the best time sat in the sun next to the river! Our server was lovely and made sure my veggie friend got enough veggie sandwiches. Sam delivering it with a cheeky smile was the cherry on top nCheers chefs and thanks to everyone working
I am struggling with some of the reviews on here. We visited for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. Firstly we were greated with a warm welcome and nice atmosphere. The place itself is unique and quirky. Lots to enjoy and take in. I had a full cooked breakfast which was cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly throughout and as it was an anniversary treat for us we wanted to take a few photos and get some memories. The lady there happily took us outside and took photos of the two of us with some lovely backgrounds. We were very impressed. I have nothing but positive things to say about this great find. We will be back ! Thankyou for looking after us.
Went in with partner & family, first visit and I won't be back unfortunately. The place looks lovely, well decorated, food was great... But, it felt as if the staff couldn't be bothered to serve us. Didn't get a drink we ordered, even after asking again if it was coming and they knew we hadn't had it. Such a shame!
Had a magical lunch here, sat in the log cabin out the back, overlooking the river. The food was beautiful, we had the Mad Hatter Club Sandwich and the Stew in a Yorkshire. The tiramasu hot chocolates were incredible. Really warm service, can't wait to return!
Visited Mad Hatters on a Monday over the Christmas holidays. We were looking for a quick bite to eat before exploring Matlock. Upon arrival at around 11am we were advised to go through the front of the cafe to the back where a cabin was situated with extra seating. We took our own seats as no one was around to show us to one. The cabin atmosphere was cosy and warm despite it being a chilly day outside. The menu has a wide variety of different dishes so a bit spoilt for choice, however once decided it took a little while before someone came to take an order however when they did they were very polite.nnThe order didn’t take too long to arrive, opted for a crunchie hot chocolate, latte and a couple of ‘We’re All Nuts Here’ Croffles. The food was really nice and I’d recommend the place if you’re looking for a sweet treat, however perhaps a little overpriced for what you get £9.95 per croffle but it definitely looks appealing on the plate. The hot chocolate was nice too, although not too sure about the chocolate dipped around the edge of the glass, it looks great as a decorative feature but practically I ended up getting it over my face when taking a drink from the cup!nnWe weren’t there for very long but it looked pretty popular during the time we were there with quite a few people coming and going and I overheard they also had some tables reserved for people later in the day. They also appear to be dog friendly as a very good dog was sat with its owners on the table next to us. We did find the staff were nice and friendly throughout our visit. Upon exit, we could make payment by card at the main counter at the front of the cafe which was good.nnAs a note we have visited this cafe before a few years ago and found the service to be very good on both occasions. Despite the prices being a tad high I would recommend giving it a try and would probably visit again during another visit to Matlock.
