Fantastic old pub! Had my wedding reception here yesterday, Ryan and the staff really went out of their way to help plan it and make our day special. Food was great, everyone had a blast, and it was all done for a very reasonable price!
Had a quiet lunch of chef special fish pie and honey glazed carrots and steamed savoy cabbages. Delicious and a large portion, but rightly matched with price. Worth for the chunks of cod/haddock, salmon and prawns found in the pie. Lovely gin and tonic. The best part was the amazing chef made experimental gorgeous chilli sauce. He needs to bottle it and sell it. It was kickass. Yes, I like even my fish pie or steamed cabbages with bit of heat and was this a treat.
Popped in for lunch for the first time having passed by on the main road for many years. Great find. Busy Friday lunchtime. Food was very good. I don't think any more expensive than comparative places. No delays despite being busy. Well worth turn off for. Will certainly be back
Went today when visiting our Son who is currently at RAF Halton, what a fantastic little hem. The food which was all home made and was delicious. The host and waitress were very welcoming, will definitely be revisiting when we are next down there.
A beautiful, classic country pub! The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food was sublime. Cannot recommend enough! In fact I might go back tomorrow to try another of the chefs dishes! *update* I went back for dinner that evening and had the Antipasti and Lamb Rump witch were both delicious! Then on the Friday evening I took a friend and we had a lovely evening.
Loving the new menu. In the middle of enjoying the homemade linguini and the sole with ratatouille and crushed potatoes...Looking forward to the new Artisan Organic wines from Italy and the arrival of the Coravin so we can all try these sumptuous wines by the glass. The sun drenched patio is such a lovely area for sitting outside in the sun.
First visit to this lovely country pub - very dog friendly and the food was great. We had the fish and chips and lamb shank and would recommend both. Will definitely visit again
Had a lovely turkey roast dinner which was very good. Service was excellent as was the atmosphere. Keep up the great work guys.Food: 5/5
Great Sunday lunch! Tasty and plentiful. Lovely pub with friendly serviceFood: 5/5
We stopped by for some food and drink mid-walk. Had a nice table in the beer garden. The ploughman's was ok, but would be better if they added ham and a pickled onion. It took over half an hour for the food to arrive despite the pub being pretty empty and there was no warning of the delay when ordering. Some of the sausages in the sausage and mash were really burnt and inedible. The ice-cream and sorbets were great, although the scoop size was pretty small. All in all, it was quite pricey considering the quality of the food. I don't think I'd eat here again, but I'd come back for a drink in the beer garden.
