Just a quick lunch after went through all the marvelous exhibition. This is the room for member only. The bean salad is acceptable but the custard tart is terribly bad. However the outdoor space is very soothing if it’s not raining.
It's a lovely bar with a great view, of course. The problem is that so many of the tables are taken by people not eating or drinking that there's often nowhere to sit. I've mentioned it to staff who don't seem that interested. Some people even brought their own food and drink! I've never been to a bar where staff, security and management seem so frightened of their more selfish members.
A lovely treat after an afternoon at the Tate. I only had a drink, but the service was excellent, and prices were fair.Food: 5/5
The new Granville-Grossman Members Room on 8F is fabulous. Plenty of working and relaxing spaces. What I personally love most is the fact they decided not to put any BGM. They have even improved the quality of their cakes. The carrot cake from Galeta was very good. Well done Tate.
The view is excellent and the service is nice, but I have to say the bar has to do something with the menu. I think it is great they have this tapas concept but if you are going to do something like that you have to do it well and learn something about Spanish tapas. I tried them and the bread was horrible plus you have never have to spread butter on the bread to serve tapas or pintxos. It is a dish really easy to prepare, so I don’t know why they served in this way.
I used to love the members rooms but they have all become over rated! The non members restaurants have much nicer ambiance and sell more food options. Not sure what the “bespoke benefit” of those rooms is?! Food and drinks is really over priced across the board at the Tate. All feels quite a rip off sadly but the art end the building is just wonderful
Self service cafe with a terrace providing great views of the Thames, St Paul's and the London skyline.
I love the Tate Modern, the exhibitions and the viewing platform is just fantastic; however, I wasn't very impressed with the Tate Modern Members Room on the 8th floor of the new section of the building. In fact, I was a bit disappointed with it; it is not only expensive almost £20 for two soups and diet coke; but it just doesn't feel comfortable and inviting - although it has nice views. Now, the Tate Modern Members Bar I think on the 3rd or 4th floor is a lot better; with nicer views directly opposite St. Paul's Cathedral and just feels more welcoming.
Very small potion of Luke warm soup - pretty average taste. On the pricey side Wonderful view -very basic canteen otherwise. Disappointing.
This used to be a great venue, a lovely place for a drink and a snack with great views and a real sun trap of a roof terrace. However, post-covid, it's gone hugely downhill. First off: it no longer opens in the evenings. Previously it opened late on Thursday to Saturday; now it's daytimes only. When challenged, the excuse is 'Covid', which doesn't really wash in 2024. Secondly, the policy on children is ridiculous. As a member you can't take a guest in unless you pay an elevated fee; but any member or guest can take up to six children along. The result is that every space is filled with prams, pushchairs and offspring running amok with staff who have no interest in intervening. Tate membership used to be great. But the prices increase year on year and the levels of service are going in the opposite direction.
