Two Temple was built for William Waldorf Astor, the second richest man in America at that time, moved to England in 1891. He built this gothic mansion in 1895, overlooking the Thames. At the entrance, there are 2 cherubs on each side, one holding a telephone and one a lamp, to celebrate the building among the first to have electric bulbs and working telephone. The main staircase, the stained-glass ceiling at the Great Hall was magnificent. We visited during the London open house week. Toilet available Nearest Tube station -Temple Street parking available but limited.
Just round the corner from Temple underground station and just off the Embankment sits this beautiful former home, now an exhibition hall. I went for a glass exhibition and it allowed free entry to the home so gave an opportunity to see the amazing wooden carvings, frescos, pane glass windows and intricate decorative engravings all through the halls. It’s a great building to look around and the exhibit was good too. Staffed by volunteers and not open every day so visit the website to be sure of opening hours. Lovely place to while away an hour or so. There’s also a souvenir shop inside if looking for a gift.
I love this place I found a website called Ianvisit, which happened to mention this place to visit over the weekend It's also good to look at the 2 Temple Place website for opening times as well before visiting the nearest tube station, which is Temple This place has two stunning places. The first is the stair case & the second is the long hall. You have to make your way upstairs, which is amazing, and then you enter the main hallway, which is breathtaking I would advise going here while the exhibition is on, which is on until April, I think I need to return to see this place without the exhibition on But I would recommend

A magnificent place to visit just for the chance to see the exquisite artwork of this hidden gem. Interesting art exhibition inside which I presume changes. Truly welcomed inside by those who care for this place. Free entry and worth a visit. Beautiful gardens opposite to sit in and not far from the Embankment Tube StationVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
